Overall the kerbside appearance was good. Check in lady was great but unfortunately didn't quite deliver what she said she would do. Room was lovely but the lay out of the dressing area was a kettle and a picture. It was the best place to do your male up everywhere else was dark.

Beds were stained. Mattress cover was stained. No coffee or tea maker. No bottled water in the room. Towels smelt of cooking fat. Sink did not hold water. Shower flooded the bathroom.

Room 3 has several issues: 1. There’s a massive gap under the door which is so big you can see the carpet in the hallway through it. The gap also means all the light and noise from the hall can be seen/heard from inside the room. The door is a push/ pull but on the inside there’s not a pull bar handle installed which means the lever handle is coming lose and the fixings are exposed. 2. The floorboards squeak so loudly! In part of the room the floorboards are sinking so you feel like you could go through the carpet at any moment. 3. The window has privacy filmed installed to hide the ugly view, the window also has a tatty roller blind installed which is pointless as is does not block out any daylight. 4. The desk is lent against the wall to keep it upright so as soon as you lean on it, it tips – dangerous as this is where the kettle is. 5. One of the bedside lights wasn’t working. The en-suite also has problems. 1. The grouting is missing between the floor tiles. 2. The sealant is thick and messy. 3. The lock on the door doesn’t work. 4. The shower is just a rainfall head, no handheld attachment. 5. Theres a sign which states at peak times it can take up to 15 minutes for hot water to come through, I showered at 06:00am and the water was boiling hot or scolding, so the temperature control needs fixing. 6. There should be a light over the mirror. Overall cleanliness was a problem too.

I stayed in room 52 this week and there was a horrible smell on arrival. I had to keep the window open to try and get some fresh air in which didn’t help. This made the room cold and, when the window was closed, the heating/ radiator wouldn’t work. Last week the bed was worn out. While staying away with work I would like a comfortable room. I have unfortunately been disappointed the last two weeks.

We had a family room which was very spacious. The bar and restaurant area were quite dated but comfortable enough. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff very friendly. The lighting in the rooms wasn’t great (a few not working). Disappointed we couldn’t use the swimming facilities on the first day as they were to busy. I think they should state this when you book. Overall very happy and would stay here again. Value for money

The hotel was good enough, all of the staff were super friendly and attentive. We stayed in the hotel for dinner on Friday evening, the vegetarian choice wasn’t great, not enough choice to want to eat there two nights. The dining room was ok, nothing fancy but adequate, room was clean and tidy, a little bit tired but good enough. The bath was huge and high-my elderly mother that was staying with us was not able to get in to the bath. The staff very kindly offered a room on the first floor after noticing that she walked using a stick. We were very grateful for this. Breakfast was ok, we paid for this to be included in our stay. There was a choice of cooked breakfast, cereal and continental, it all tasted cheap but was ok. I used the pool on one morning, it was adequate but as it was quite small it got busy quickly so I didn’t bother the following morning. Our room was on the second floor, some guests stood under our window to smoke which was unpleasant given that there was a dedicated smoking area- this was not the staffs fault though perhaps the signage for smokers should be clearer We would stay here again but would go elsewhere for our meals

We have previously stayed in this property, this is why we again choose to stay here. However, we shall not be doing so again. The staff were lovely and the grounds are well kept, but the room was a different story. When we arrive all seemed ok, but as we looked more closely around the room the more we were disappointed. There was cello-tape left on the walls, the curtain nets were ripped to pieces, the sink had a huge crack in it, the was black mould around the shower glass, mark on the glass table tops, the bath was unsafe as it was so slippery and finally the pillows had no protection so were covered in yellow stains. Overall we were very unimpressed and disappointed that the basic standards weren’t there. It’s fair to say we shall not be staying here again.

Booked a superior room and got room 54. Kept awake all night by the noise of the boiler as the room is located above the boiler room. We spoke to John on reception the following morning and was very apologetic and arranged an upgraded room (Master suite 2) The room was lovely with great views over the garden and a really nice bathroom…..unfortunately the bed let this down as it was so uncomfortable. The mattress needs replacing as it dips in the middle. The food was good (evening meal) but restaurant atmosphere felt like a care home.

Large free car park. We had a suite which was lovely. Maybe a biscuit with the tea/coffee provided would have been nice. The water wasn't very hot for a bath but I do often have water too hot! The evening meal and breakfast was very nice.

Lovely hotel, with friendly staff. The man on reception was very helpful and went out of his way to recommend local restaurants in Chester, he even gave me a map of Chester and pinpointed out the location of the different types of restaurants. Thank you.
