Great hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Small things make all the difference and the experience was consistent all through the hotel. From a personable arrival at reception, giving me all the relevant info (last orders, gym opening times etc), friendly gym staff and great customer service and meal in the restaurant. I forgot my tooth paste and the lovely lady at the desk (apologies didn’t get name) gave me a toothbrush and toothpaste. I also didn’t know how to find the gym and she walked me there. Really made me feel valued as a guest. So much so, I enquired about the cost of the conference room for the day as hold quarterly business meetings with a small uk team who stay over the night before and have a full day meeting. I’ll be putting this hotel forwards as a suggestion for a future meeting. I work in sales and so stay in a lot of hotels weekly, all over the Uk. This is the first time staying here and is already in my top 5 hotels. Particularly love the gym and pool facilities which is what often draws me to picking hotels. Thanks Marriot Preston team! Great job :)

Stayed here with my family. Wonderful, friendly greeting from the staff at reception. Room was spotless and queit. Perfect hotel for families. Breakfast was lovely, loads to choose from. Swimming and spa area also very good. I didnt get to use the gym, it was small but look more than ample. We'd definitely visit again.

Clean tidy room, lights were a bit confusing. Friendly staff but some areas were unstaffed and we had to go looking for someone to ask for bar staff to get a coffee in the morning. Lovely pool - absolutely bliss!

Very nice hotel in a quiet country setting. Easy parking, quick check-in, good size room, all facilities I needed. Breakfast was pretty good too. I'd very happily stay again if in the area.

A strange sort of place. It is a beautiful old manor with great history. The room was spacious and welcoming. We stayed there for 4 nights and generally enjoyed it. It’s strange in that it has many many rooms in several wings, but it has no restaurant. It has a bar area with a bar menu that is very sparse and limited. Thank goodness for the Broughton inn, a 10 minute flat walk away. We ate there 2 of the 4 nights and it was amazing. A real country pub with top food and drinks. Fabulous atmosphere and staff. Speaking of which. The staff at the Marriott seemed untrained and totally without any guidance. Is there a manager there? Who knows. An exception to this was a guy named Paul. He was very helpful and seemed to be enjoying the job. Other staff members seemed to be afraid of something and one, had only been there for a few weeks, said they had nightmares most nights 😳 . The housekeeping was mediocre at best and didn’t seem too happy either. It’s a shame really as a good manager encouraging staff and taking an interest could really make a difference. We are currently staying at the Marriott in Durham and experiencing the same issues, with no restaurant and the same menu as Preston Marriott. It sure sounds like it’s a head office issue throughout the whole Marriott chain. Would we stay with Marriott again? Possibly, but only to see if it has changed. If no.
