A very impressive site as you drive in from the entrance. A well presented stately hotel doubling as a Golf bar and restaurant which makes perfect sense. It appeared to be reasonably well supported and obviously a very popular wedding venue too. Only had a couple of nights here and didn't use the restaurant as we were being hosted by friends who had recommended the place. Somewhat aged and a little tired butt well presented and great staff to assist. Would definitely go back there.

Stayed with my 2 dogs. Had a ground floor room not far from the lobby which made for easy access. Room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Price was very competitive but disappointed with the extra money charged for each dog. I realise that some owners are not very responsible but charging for each dog seems excessive.

Staff and room were lovely and the breakfast was excellent. Comfortable bed. There's some design flaws, for example you can't fill the kettle up at the sink without the water coming out as you try to extract it. Nothing major though. It's not that pet friendly. It would have been nice to have a drink in the bar but that would have meant leaving the dog in the car so we went somewhere else for a drink.

Room was clean and was ready for us. Staff very nice and friendly. Domestic staff cleaning were very polite and friendly too. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice. There was work going on in the hotel but it was well contained. We have stayed here many times as we have family in the area. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again

free classes were really good, amazing pool, but make sure you book dinner in advance....we didn't and restaurant was fully booked but they managed to get us a table at 8.30pm. Suggested walks from the hotel would be useful too.

As an American, I can say that cleanliness was not up to par with American hotels. Parts of it were trying to be upscale, for example the spa was amazing. However the rooms flush barely worked, and the bathtub was strange and we struggled to figure out how to drain it. Parts of it were not super clean. The gym machines were sticky. The landscaping and decor throughout different parts of the hotel were beautiful . There were also spiders all over the room

If your only reason to visit is to play golf, this hotel is your place. Otherwise, there’s nothing much else to do, especially if you have younger children. The services that staff provide are good, but limited to what they can really provide for a Spa type of hotel, including restaurant services.

On the outside a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Inside it is an old property and not up to date ie no usb points to charge phones etc without a plug. However one of the reception staff kindly lent us one to charge our phones. The furniture in the bedroom was scuffed and the room was not cleaned/ bins emptied/ beds made up etc during our entire stay (4nights). Had to ask for clean towels as only 2 bath towels in bathroom. Breakfast was adequate but we have had as good in a premier inn. On our final night we had to evacuate due to fire alarm going off at 3.30am. Luckily we had our car in which to sit for over an hour once we had been checked off on the register, and it was a dry night & our heated seats kept us warm. Handy hotel to stay in if visiting the Great Yorkshire show and the Emmerdale tour and York is also close by with its fabulous designer outlet to the south of York meaning you don’t actually have to go into the city.

Only stay here as family nearby. Find it very impersonal hotel where it is more geared towards functions ie weddings etc so the ordinary guest seems to be brushed to one side to give priority to people attending functions. Reception staff again professional but not exactly warm and friendly. Restaurant staff very professional and pleasant. Disappointed on a two night stay room not serviced. Good job we had sugar and coffee with us.The prices paid for a deluxe room this should be a guaranteed. On entering, room looks nice till you eventually see that it is not as good as first impressions. Instructions on how to work TV would have been nice as would the addition of room service. However what ruined the stay, albeit beyond their control was fire alarm going off at 3.15 am and everyone evacuated. So nearly two hours standing outside in freezing cold. No provision made for two very elderly men who were struggling and only helped by two guests getting them chairs to sit on. Young toddlers and babies absolutely freezing. Roll call was a joke as names called out before people were there. It was a total farce and very badly organised. Hotel needs to seriously look at their procedures for emergencies as what we experienced was disgraceful. Total lack of communication from staff as to what was happening, how long it would be, was it false alarm……we got nothing. Not even an apology on checking out.

Rooms were tidy and clean. Football was on at the bar however there weren't enough seats / space to watch it. This was a bit of a flying visit however I would return.
