Property was lovely from the outside but very dated. My room was very small and very dirty, for the price of the rooms i expected 5 stars but it was far from it, Could write my name in the dust not just one area the whole room, mould in bathroom and pink from lack of good cleaning lime scale on taps, smell in room and hallway. I was there for a wedding. So could not go to another hotel

As a regular visitor to Down Hall, it was another much enjoyed experience.

We absolutely loved our stay here and honestly wished we had booked for longer. From the minute we arrived, we felt so well taken care of. Mel was fantastic and made such a strong impression with how warm, helpful, and attentive she was. We were travelling with our dog, and this place really goes above and beyond. The grounds were beautiful and perfect to enjoy with a pooch, and we were so impressed by the thoughtful touches like the dog menu, the welcome package for our dog, and a lovely treat waiting for us as well. We had accidentally booked a room that was not dog friendly, but the staff handled it so quickly and smoothly and made sure we were looked after. Nothing felt like too much trouble. Everything about the stay was fantastic. The room was stunning, the food and drinks were excellent, and the staff were exceptional across the board. It is one of those places that makes you want to come back before you have even left. Highly, highly recommend.

Reception staff were excellent. Room was well appointed and the bathroom very clean. Bar and wait staff were very pleasant and courteous but in need of further training.

Great hotel in a wonderfully quiet and tranquil location. The staff were lovely and very helpful throughout my stay. The only minor downside was that the bathroom wasn’t completely spotless. However, this didn’t take away from the overall experience, and I would happily stay here again and again. Many thanks for making my stay so enjoyable.

Staff were excellent. Breakfast lovely. Amazing land. Room warm and if you are in a room 200 plus it’s a lot of stairs with a suitcase.

The whole stay was just perfect.

Charming hotel and grounds, really friendly and accommodating staff, and exceptionally dog-friendly. The harness/lead sets in the room were both a surprise and a delight. We didn't get to try the spa this time, however other guests mentioned the spa(s) were really good too. Quite a bit of work being done in the grounds, but all looks like additional development/features, but in Feb, so not a problem at all. We'll definitely be back.

Loved this place. Felt more like a 5 star hotel. Staff all really friendly and helpful, beautiful hotel and grounds. Food really good. Really nice atmosphere for Christmas.
