Grand and imposing, centrally located for great convenience, well maintained and was due to be the highlight of our 2.5 week trip to Canada. Sadly although we were told of renovations in the booking section we weren’t told about the access issues. Multiple times a day we had the inconvenience of having to carry our double stroller up and down stairs to exit from the lobby or the Avenue level. There was a very convoluted access that needed to be facilitated by staff for wheelchair access via the east entrance but it just wasn’t worth waiting for the unsurprisingly busy staff to become available. Maybe all hotels default to classing themselves as family friendly but a bit more thought required. I was surprised that unlike the Chateau Laurier they didn’t even have a baby bath. Fair enough not many hotels provide guard rails but a baby bath is relatively common. The complimentary milk for the kids was at least provided. We did love the location, the decor, the bathroom products, the coffee machine and the modern lift service. Sadly the website indicated a wading pool which upon visiting the health floor ended up being non existent. A shame as the facilities looked good (my wife appreciated the female only steam sauna room). We did have a few days of the room not being serviced which was disappointing having to call to get it done. We also weren’t able to have the alcohol removed from the mini bar which is unusual in this day and age. Sadly not the highlight we hoped for.
