The web site does not show how outdated the hotel is, a major overhaul and upgrade required

It’s been 15 years since I stayed at a hotel in the British Isles and things have not improved. The rest of the world has moved on. The eastern European woman that checked me in was fast, friendly and efficient. The local woman that checked me out was typically surly and uninterested. The room was dirty. In particular there was dirty water in the kettle which was discoloured and may have been there for weeks rather than days. This is a health hazard. In addition, they were seagull poo covering us substantial portion of the window both inside and outside! The bathroom was poor with a small quantity of lukewarm water, so I ended up taking a shallow bath.

The bathroom was a problem- couldn’t run a bath as the tap was faulty. Toilet flush button required some strength to push. Nescafé on hospitality tray- stuck in the 70s… All in all, this hotel needs a revamp.

This hotel is really outdated. There isn't any AC, the walls are really thin, musty, our toilet was broken, the furniture is run down, in dire need of upgrades. Most of the buildings in IOM are old, but for the price, there needs to be upgrades. The breakfast buffet is average, it was just convenient for us.

The location is perfect right on the Promenade waterfront. Everything is within walking distance to The Strand for shopping and dining. Very friendly staff. The hotel is clean and safe but definitely very old and frumpy. In need of repair & updating.

Nice stay, the hotel was not that easy to navigate but got the hang of it, staff helpful with on site restaurants/bar/casino. Comfortable beds, everything you need in the room. The only thing I could say negative about this hotel was the well worn carpets, otherwise a great base for tripping about with a really good breakfast & we had a evening meal there which was delicious & good value)))

Dated as others say. Tatty carpets, walls need painting. Bed quite uncomfortable, but not the worst ever as didn’t prevent sleep. Light in bathroom so old it took 10 seconds to fire up. Coke bottle left behind sofabed. Water stains on wall from previous leak. Fire alarm went off 05:20 Saturday morning, full evacuation. Reception appears unmanned, but a person appears instantly, very impressive! Get a seaview room and you'll be fine!

Second time I’ve stayed here and the room looking out to sea was a good improvement over the one facing the car park. It was a bigger room that seemed more modern and had amazing views of the Douglas bay. Breakfast is self serve and has most things you’d want from cereal, fruit, yoghurts, juices etc to full English so perfect for most needs. There’s a few restaurants on site and I’m sure you can find something to suit, I ate in the main restaurant and had the carvery both nights which was ok.

Typical best western hotel, run down in lots of areas, threadbare corridor carpets etc but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Expensive for what it is but adequate for a night or two! Has its own parking behind the hotel which is useful for parking motorbikes etc from plain view.

The building is now very tired and would benefit from a complete refurbishment. It would probably be better to demolish it and start again. The staff were very cheerful and then rooms very clean. The breakfasts were very good.
