Clean room, nice pillows.

The staff that l meant was fantastic. I got a beautiful suite for just small amount. I will definitely book that hotel again.

Perfect for a night or two. Great location next to the station.

Beautiful building at great location. My single room had a very decent sized twin bed. Although the hotel is next to the train station, I heard no noise at any moment of my stay. The gym room is basic, but it offers alternatives for a total body workout.

Hotel itself was great but the area around that was not good. Middle of the night there was lots of people yelling in the street.

We loved the spacious room, modern amenities, and incredibly helpful staff. Breakfast was great as well and offered a good selection.

Hotel Essener Hof is very close to the Essen rail station. It has historic charm, with some drawbacks. Many rooms have no air conditioning - you must make a special request for an air-conditioned room, after booking on a third party site. Many rooms are on hallways that have steps to climb from the lift. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant are closed; breakfast is a buffet with many traditional German food choices.

Check in was terrible. I wandered around in the rain for a while before finding the reception area. Our key was there with a note, but because the note was in German I didn't use Google translate on it till we found our room. Turns out the note could have saved us from wandering through different buildings looking for our room. Now that we're settled, the room is adequate. It is clean and well maintained. We'll be here for 4 nights. Too bad we didn't get a hotel with a kettle so I could make coffee and with a little more space.

A nice hotel in a quiet corner of central Essen, very handy for the train station and central shopping areas. The room was large and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a problem with a leaking extractor fan in the bathroom and no way to fix it over the weekend but they did provide a bucket when I asked as the floor was very wet. The high tech shower completely defeated me. They had left the full maintenance manual in the hotel room for guests to peruse (and who doesn’t love a maintenance manual when on holiday) but I still overlooked the essential switch on the sink that was needed to activate the shower (silly of me not to guess but there was no obvious sign). A pity also that nobody pointed out that only one of the two lifts gets to the fifth floor. Overall: a nice and clean hotel that just needs to up its game a little.
