Loved Venice! This hotel is incredible. Rooms were huge! We booked a junior suite. Ours had a sitting room, kitchenette, bedroom and large bathroom. The breakfast that was included was wonderful. Staff were great. Venice is very walkable. We were closest to San Marco Square. Tons of shopping and restaurants. Close to everything!

Venice is my favorite city in the world! The location of this property can't be beaten. You could literally hit a golf ball to Piazza San Marco! The property itself; however, is actually kinda weird. When we checked in, the front desk lady walked us to our room. By leading us up some stairs, down a hallway, then up some more stairs, the down another hallway, then down some stairs, then through a door, out onto the sidewalk/street, down the sidewalk/street, to and through another door, then up some more stairs, and finally to our room. Thankfully, they had a bell hop carry our luggage for us. The room itself was actually the most spacious of all of our rooms in Italy (there were 5 rooms, in 5 different cities, in total). It was a suite with plenty of room to stretch out. A VERY nice amenity, particularly when compared to the closet-sized room we had in Rome. However, there were little touches that weren't exactly 5 star worthy. For example, the bathroom sink would drain. The release lever did nothing. Water containing shaving cream and bits of my former beard sat in the sink until we finally figured out how to reach below the sink, behind the pipe, and manually release the water in the sink. A simple repair they need to make. Stuff like that. But, all in all, I give it a thumbs up based on fantastic location and spacious room.

Great location very close to San Marco square and several restaurants and shopping nearby. Very accommodating and they even set us up with a water taxi to the airport. Overall a very enjoyable stay that allowed us to get a good taste of Venice and it’s culture.

Check in was quick & painless once we found the desk. Although we booked San Marco Palace, check in was at Royal San Marco around the corner, which wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't have to drag bags over bridges and steps. Although we were early, they kindly stored our bags until our room was ready. I confirmed before booking that the hotel had a lift. However, our room was a walk down the hall, outside, through a keyed external door, up a flight of stairs, 1 floor in a lift, down a long hallway, more stairs, another lift, through another door to outside, walk a few doors outside, into another keyed door, up another flight of stairs to a lift, down a hallway to our room door. Inside the room door, another half flight of stairs down to access the apartment. If our 83 year old mother wasn't with us, it would have been less of an issue but beware, the family suites are nowhere near the lobby or breakfast room. Good: location, spacious apartment, 2bedroom, 2bath, large living room, small kitchen and looked to have been lovely in its day. Bad: Furniture is old and worn, mattresses are thin, worn and uncomfortable. Pillows are flat and only 1 per person provided. Kitchen had only bottles of water in fridge&disposable plastic cups. No cutlery, glasses, plates...nothing. We requested extra pillows & finally tracked down the maid on day 2 & asked her directly. An electric outlet in the master bedroom was falling out of the wall and unsafe. No water taxi access-dragged bags thru

There was nothing to like about the Sam Marco. Staff was rude and uninviting our room needed a major facelift. Bed and pillows were disgusting. Would not recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel for the location, large living space, and that it had a kitchenette. The decor of our rooms were lovely and we even had a veranda. The daily room housekeeping was good too. The kitchenette came with a sink, cooking hob, fridge, microwave and lots of cupboards. But (there is a big but!), NO utensils, mugs, plates, pots, or kettle, making the kitchenette pointless. We asked for a kettle, and all we received was a lidless teapot!!! I would suggest that anyone going here should take a few of your own utensils. On arrival the fridge contained 6 bottles of water. There was no information to say that the fridge was actually a minibar and it’s contents had to be paid for. Other hotels provide water, tea and coffee for free. When we arrived at the hotel we were escorted quite a distance away from the hotel to another building which made us feel quite detached from a hotel experience. Breakfast was situated by the main hotel, so we had to walk a distance to get to this every day. The room didn’t contain any information about hotel amenities (room service, concierge services, minibar pricing, safety information, local amenities/attractions). To sum up, the location couldn’t be better, but the hotel needs to provide what it is claiming to have. I wouldn’t rate it as four star either. More like a three star from what it actually provides.

First. I travel for a living. I have been to 85 countries. When we arrived late, they did not help us with luggage. I was traveling with a woman who needed help. They said they had four hotels and walked us in the dark up stairs and down stairs, through hallways and alleys expecting us to remember the way. No map to help us find the way. Gave us 3 physical keys attached to a heavy key ring, with three keys and only one of the keys opened any door. Pillows were super flat, when I called to get extra pillows they made us feel like we were burdening them. Breakfast was from 7-11. As soon as it hit 11 they kicked us out The photos on the site are deceiving, it looks amazing in photos. Walls are all scuffed up. The claim to have great views of St Marks Square. Our view was an old man in his whitey tighties. I could say more but, I’m exhausted from the experience. Side note this isn’t my first time to Venice, but my last this hotel. The best part was it was spacious and quiet stay.

This property is in the heart of Venice, walkable to many sites. The room was a bit shabby. New couch and rug would help while still maintaining the old Venice atmosphere. The breakfast was outstanding and the staff were excellent. Transportation to and from Venice is extremely pricy and this is not the fault of the hotel. The staff always steered us to reasonable choices.

As close to St Marks square as you could stay. We stayed in a reasonably priced suite which was perfecto! Breakfast was fantastic. Location was a 30 second walk from the apartments. Great aircon was needed in the 35 degree heat and it was great. The only thing that was lacking was a kettle, however due to the fire risk I believe they're not supplied routinely.
