Stayed one night in January 2025.
First impressions of the room were not especially good. Washed my hands and there were no towels. Thought that I must be wrong, as I’ve never seen that before in a hotel, but sure enough - no towels. I called the front desk and the fellow was not apologetic and didn’t even seem surprised. They brought a couple armfuls of towels about 15 minutes later.
All in all, my room was in a bit of a time warp. Everything seemed old and tired, but the bed was comfy, the pillow was good and it was clean, so it did the job for the night and it was inexpensive.
If I want to be more detailed, more Internet critical, you kind of get what you pay for with this hotel. Yes, the lobby is nice, but the room had Ruby Foo Asian theme styled lighting that was stained, looked a little sad with age, the Nespressi coffee maker was cracked but still functional, the metal plate in the tub was hanging loose, the A/C heater unit was from the 1970’s and sounded like an old Chevy truck for about 10 minutes once you start it up. Just hope you’re not travelling with others and need to start that up in the middle of the night.
My biggest criticism of my room was that there were no blackout drapes. I mean, come on, the windows lookout at the front of the hotel which has a long string of bright lights. The amount of light pollution entering the room through the thin, translucent white fabric hanging over the window is considerable. It’s not conducive to sleep.
