Staff friendly & kind. Buffet had nice selecting, including many vegetarian options. Beds & pillows comfortable. View was beautiful. Hard to get reservations at the hotel restaurants, and yet, when they are fully booked, they appear to be half-empty. We ate at the buffet all but one night because there were no restaurant spots avaliable, even though they're was a lot of unused seating each time. Mini-bar cabinet was unlocked our whole stay & 2 bottles actually fell out of it, which we had to put back in as best we could. Bathroom could use a bit of updating (and more water pressure in the shower), and vinyl floor in bedroom was bubbling up as if there was past water damage, but nothing that affected our time there - just an observation as fellow business owners. Overall a great stay. Will choose Riu Palace again in future.

The hotel itself is average (compared to other Riu like Cabo San Lucas with beautiful gardens and pools) this one is plain older building but it is very clean and maintained well. There is only one pool. Small pool with bar is packed with people, loud and not very inviting. Food was excellent, a lot of choices to satisfy everyone. We didn’t care for one of the specialty restaurants and didn’t try to make reservations to the others. Our room was very spacious junior suite for four people, we enjoyed the view from our balconies. Stuff was friendly and helpful. It would be a pleasant experience (the beach is beautiful with turquoise water) but there are jet skies for rent (not part of the hotel) parked right next to the dedicated area for swimming and the operators are riding the skis back and forth all day long trying to attract clients. Many times they got dangerously close and sometimes were even riding through the area for swimming. The smell of fuel was overwhelmingly strong. This is the only reason I would not recommend this place.

Disappointing Stay – Worst RIU Experience Yet As a frequent traveler who has stayed at other RIU properties, this resort was a major letdown. The entire place is extremely outdated and lacks any kind of excitement or energy. Activities are minimal and boring, with very little to do throughout the day. The dining options are limited, and while the staff were polite, they barely interacted with guests or made any effort to enhance the experience. The resort itself is very small, and to make matters worse, the property next door is abandoned an absolute eyesore. The pool closes ridiculously early between 5:00–5:30 PM, and guests are required to leave the beach by 7:00 PM. It felt more like a curfew than a vacation. We weren't the only ones unhappy multiple guests were complaining, and one even left to book another resort. Honestly, if we were staying longer, my husband and I would have followed. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Save your money and go elsewhere. This was by far the worst resort experience I’ve ever had.

First kudos to the following individuals: La Linda for assisting on getting dinner reservations, Udina for great mimosas, and Dekell for great drinks and friendly service. Now, Room's bathroom needs work....tile floor is unsafe when no fan is present and the toilet was not secured to floor. Would rather have a KING bed over two DOUBLES any day. Spa.. 'Hot Tube was just 'WARM'. Impossible to get into restaurants...yet when you did they were only a 1./3 full. Help problem? Buffet was Average at best. Bahamas and Krystal - - food needs great improvement. The Local Entertainment was SO LOUD we couldn't stay. There are other All Inclusive's in the area which we would try before ever coming back here. This was not our first time at this hotel...but definitely will be our last.

We have stayed at other Riu’s and we were a little shocked to see the state of this building. It was just ok. You walked in and the staff handling your bags are great as well as the desk associates. The room was a small basic room. For $600 a night, I thought it’d be bigger and updated. The pool had many missing tiles and tiles that were recently epoxied back on. The lounge chairs were ok. The beach was nice but very annoying due to the people constantly selling rides or souvenirs. Food was ok, not spectacular. Hotel from beach side desperately needs to be pained.

Pool was disgusting. There was white stuff floating in the corners and the water smelled of vomit each day I was there. Really disappointed as I booked this hotel for the pool bar. The staff was wonderful so I feel bad for the review but come on, it’s a pool vacation destination, do better!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Small property, but never felt crowded. Site expansion would be beneficial: more elevators (currently only one set) & shower facilities for guests to use between check-out & airport pickup should they decide to maximize use of the pool/beautiful beach. AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY: - Slippery floors despite being freshly mopped - not sure why. Slippery in my room, in the lobby, in the restaurant. Rectified the following day. - In my junior suite, big enough for a solo traveller, finishings are clearly aged & in need of replacement: wall lamps corroded, mirrors have age spots, door had stains on it from lubrication if the door closer. - Poor ventilation in bathroom - not sure if characteristic of Riu’s. I noticed the same in Dominican Republic as well - My fridge was mysteriously loud & kept me awake. Riu associate seemingly confused by my request to have it unplugged. The day had passed & it was not rectified, but the next associate I spoke to did not make it a problem & sent a technician up right away. GOOD: - Food was fine, desserts in particular were delicious in my opinion & on par with my previous Riu experience. - Staff was all friendly & polite. - Beach experience was positive - more than enough beach chairs & space for everyone, the staff managing it were very accommodating. FYI water, although clear & beautiful, is deep & waves were strong. I’m a confident swimmer but only lasted 5 waves because I was exhausted.

Everything was outdated. The toilets didn’t flush, we had to get service to fix it 2x. Our door to the balcony broke and they held the door back in place with a screw. I’m a vegetarian and felt the food was not separated enough for vegetarians and there were limited options. This resort was also far from everything (no stores or places to walk to safely). Staff was great.
