Our room was clean, warm and well-lit. We had selected a superior twin, but the view from the room was dreadful ! We were next to the boiler and there was ducting all over, rubbish and the exterior of the building at the back is very shabby. Just to note - there are no usb sockets in the room, so you need to bring your own adapter. There is also no phone - I suppose because everyone has their own these days. The furniture was all dark wood, which is fitting for the age and style of the building, but there were no coasters or mats for hot drinks, which was worrying for putting a mug on the bedside table. We had to use magazines. There was only one comfy chair. The room service was a bit below par - no spare toilet roll, glasses were not washed and beds were not made. Breakfast was good, choice of food was good and service was good. Tables and cutlery etc were all clean and tidy. We had one evening meal in the restaurant, which we booked prior with reception. I had a confirmation email, but the time was totally wrong, so I had to go and tell them. They said, not to worry, they would inform chef what time we would actually be dining. When we arrived at the restaurant, they had no record of our booking. Service was chaos, in spite of there only being three couples dining. Fist choice of food was unavailable, and we waited 45 mins for mains. No-one returned to ask us if the meal was okay, which it wasn't. No-one asked if we wanted desert, so we left.
