Lovely location. Peaceful and beautiful. Great staff, nice food and lovely rooms. Gardens beautiful too. Lots of parking. Will be returning soon.

Grand building but very tired. Room very clean but plumbing making noises

Staff I met, all very helpful and polite. Room was fab size, it was Huge. Bathroom decent enough with adequate shower..... Was a warm time July 2026......building was like an oven in areas....... Nice location and lots of parking..... Just an overnight stop.... Just needs some tlc and A/C to bring it up to date..

This is an older style hotel that could do with updating but does have some nice period features - The important part is it’s clean and the staff are very friendly and accommodating

Good breakfast menu, particularly the continental option but cooked breakfast wasn’t too good. It took ages to arrive and baked beans lukewarm, bacon undercooked and black pudding not very good.

A gorgeous listed building retaining period features a little tired in parts but still a beautiful place. Very welcoming staff, very clean well equipped rooms. Lovely bar and lounges and patio. Great choice of fresh food for breakfast and cooked food. Would recommend.

We didn’t stay! On arrival we were told our room was hot but they could give us ice water. The room was stupidly hot and if we had stayed we would not have slept. I know we are having a hot summer but they could have supplied decent fans, and let people know before travelling for three hours how hot the top floor rooms were. No management on site, several other people complained and I felt sorry for the two young ladies on reception.

Tiny room. No air conditioning. TV didn't work. Nowhere to put anything in room or bathroom. Carpet in breakfast room dirty. Spa shut. Noisy wedding party going on. Overpriced. Staff were courteous. Breakfast was OK

It was fine, nothing spectacular. No air con in rooms, rooms are dated and could do with a face lift. Bed was comfy enough. Can't comment on the spa facilities as we didnt use. Also can't comment on food as we didnt eat on site.

The room was clean and generally comfortable. The breakfast was excellent the evening meal at the bar was pretty good. Unfortunately, I was there on 2 of the hottest days the Rooms did not have adequate ventilation a couple of small fans provided did nothing to help. 2 nights of very hot sweaty non sleep.

It was the first Spa hotel I stayed in without a spa , I was trying to make a special evening thinking they would have spa facilities as advertised. To be told they are not available at the moment, I would of booked another hotel , had thru advertised correctly

Terrible hotel. Would avoid! Rang me on the day of check-in to say that the hotel was overbooked. I was then told that, as compensation for THEIR error, they would put me in a 'sister' hotel, which in fact looked like a 1970s pub and was not at all a like-for-like swap. Very unhelpful staff; offered absolutely no assistance in resolving any discrepancies, and had to escalate to Expedia to get anywhere.

Breakfast was good. A reasonable choice of cereals, juices, cold buffet and cooked options. Carpets were tired and seen better decades. TV balanced on old piece of furniture. Bolt it to the wall. Make the room bigger by getting rid of the unnecessary cabinet. 3 chairs in the room. But only a 2 person room. Clutter. Wardrobe to short to hang up a full length dress without it touching the dusty bottom. Denise the receptionist helped us change room from our first night sleeping in a ground floor room with a bed that was solid. No give in it. Not a good night's sleep (room 60) moved to 2nd floor for our next two nights (room 29) better bed, comfortable. Slept well, thank you. Shower in the bath. Slippery in first room. No non-slip surface. Old shower dials on wall but shower controlled through bath taps. Difficult to control temperature. Cold water pressure weak in both rooms. No swimming pool or spa available. We booked this establishment as it had a pool and spa in October 25. We only get told the spa and pool are indefinitely closed in May 26. If we had known this earlier we would have moved to another nearby spa establishment with pool that we have stayed at before.

Great hotel with excellent staff and service. Hotel is a very relaxed atmosphere and quiet with lovely grounds. Food served is of a good quality and breakfast has a lot of choices and made fresh.

Lovely first stay, fantastic room and a superb breakfast. Swimming pool is being refurbished, hopefully I will be able to use on my next stay.

Really disappointed with our stay. One of the main reasons we booked was for the swimming pool and spa facilities, but a few days after making the booking we were informed they wouldn’t be available. Unfortunately, because I hadn’t paid extra for the flexible cancellation option, I couldn’t cancel and get a refund. Lesson learned. I’d also be careful with the half-board option. We paid an extra £300 for two nights for a family of four, only to find an almost empty breakfast buffet one morning. I understand we weren’t the first ones there, but I would expect food to be replenished throughout the breakfast service. For dinner, we were given a £50 voucher, but then told it couldn’t be used for children’s meals. I still can’t work out how that represents good value considering what we paid. We also weren’t informed that Sunday dinner service finishes at 4pm, so after spending the day out, we came back and had missed it completely. I rarely complain or leave negative reviews, but this place really needs better management. After quite a bit of effort trying to find the right person to speak to, I requested a partial refund of £150, which was eventually granted. To be honest, I would have much preferred a stress-free weekend where the facilities and services matched what was advertised and expected.
