We stayed at Mia Reef Isla Mujeres for five nights. Check-in on Monday was a bit uncomfortable and unwelcoming. After settling into our room, we discovered that a key electrical outlet wasn’t working. Since there was no phone in the room, we had to walk back to the lobby to request a repair and were told maintenance would be sent. Unfortunately, no one showed up — not after the first request, nor after two additional follow-ups over the next two days. Eventually, we gave up.
A similar pattern of poor follow-through occurred when we requested extra towels and again when we asked for complimentary decaffeinated Nespresso pods after they were not restocked.
As for the dining, the two “step-up” restaurants — the Cevichería and María’s — seemed more like "step-downs" compared to the buffet.
Finally, the colony of terns inexplicably moved from their Sanctuary to just outside our villa, might have brought a smile to Alfred Hitchcock’s face, though not necessarily ours.
