Only light in the room was from desk lamp, floor lamp and bedside lamps. Even with all lamps on, the room was just dimly lit. No dresser for clothes, just a deep, dark cubby cabinet with 1 shelf. Easier to "live" out of our suitcases the 4 nts we were there than have to bend over, searching cabinet with a flashlight for clothes to wear. Breakfast was ok. No traditional German Brötchen. There were some small "voll korn" rolls which were nice, but otherwise just mini kaiser rolls and rolls COVERED in poppy seeds and sesame seeds. By end of breakfast each morning those were the only rolls left. Obviously not a popular item. Suggest they nix those overly seeded rolls for some traditional brötchen. Also no elevator to the ground floor, so had to carry suitcases up/down flight of stairs. Not handicap friendly. Overall rating would be a 3.8.

Brilliant, and unfortunately due to travel I was an hour late for check-in… the wonderful lady at reception waited to check me in… great breakfast - really good, and the room was fab. Easy into town on the tram. Perfect.

Stay for the Euros. Rugs hotel is a bit out of the city but in a nice area. Staff friendly and facilities good.

We were there for the Euro competition. The hotel is located along the Rhine river and it's an ideal location not far from the city center and quite calm. The room was large, beds were comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

Room size too small. Breakfast was good.

My hotel stay has been exceedingly great. rugs HOTEL Köln has been very welcoming during my stay. The staff are all smiles and they are all willing to help. The breakfast was also delightful as it showcased the best of German breakfast. As a traveler, it made me learn something about Köln and the hospitality it can offer to future visitors.

Nice, cozy hotel very close to the Rhine river (1min). Good restaurant options in the vicinity. Very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast is okay, but no vegan options.

Hotel did not open the doors when I arrived at 2315 - no response to phone, night bell or whatever so I had to find another place - really not happy!

Overall fantastic experience. Staff is great, incredibly helpful. It is a bit out of the city center, in a lovely neighborhood with many options for eating and shopping. Breakfast is pretty good and the hotel is spotless. I would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is very good, not big and very very cozy. Was in Cologne for a short business trip and the location of this hotel was perfect. Close to the river, so if you fancy a run there’s a good pathway along the bank.

Good four star property. I believe that the hotel has very limited number of staff. Breakfast could be better. They charge you extra for the request of white egg omelette! Reception is friendly-check in and check out are quick.

The hotel is a boutique hotel in a quiet part of Koln. The hotel room was spacious and had a nice balcony for fresh air. The hotel staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. Please note that not all staff members speak English fluently- though regardless- they will try to help you out. If you are coming by car, make sure to call them weeks in advance to reserve a spot. It isnt noted on their website that a reservation is required- but its the only way to assure that you'll have a spot. The alternative is park on the street for free between 8pm and 8am. Breakfast was also very comprehensive and had good choices. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a business stay in Koln.
