Friendly and helpful staff!

Make sure you check in before 9 pm. Hard to get into hotel without a key. Unfortunately we were there during a somewhat of a heat wave and didn’t realize there would be no air conditioning and very slow fan. However breakfast was great, staff was friendly and a convenient location.

Amazing hotel

the staff were very helpful. I found the room to be too hot even with the windows open. The mattress was very comfortable.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Illuster. It was a last minute booking as we had arrived in Switzerland and did not like our original accommodation we booked (another hotel) so got online and found this one instead. The receptionists were welcoming and helpful. The hotel is on top of a shopping mall and we parked underneath the mall. We had to pay a small charge at the hotel to park there. The hotel is in a nice area with quite a few shops and restaurants. Not far from the hotel is the countryside and mountains and we had a great time exploring the surrounding area. Our room had a balcony and the view was pretty good. The hotel was clean and quiet.

The reception and bar looks really fancy. Especially I would to thank to the receptionist Marie Terezie. She helped us a lot with complications regarding our reservation. The room is nice and big enough. Unfortunately there is only shower in the bathtub which I personally don't like. There is also no entertainment at the hotel ground floor - ping pong, table football. I understand it is a business hotel, but even business guests like to relax this way after work.

The staff at the reception was quite friendly. I was on another trip to Germany before my stay in Illuster. She helped to keep my luggage befor I was back to Zurich. And the breakfast waitress even remembered my preference, bringing hot milk to me every morning instead of coffee. The breakfast is fruitful with scrambled eggs which is not easy to find with this price in Zurich(I had few business trips before and they only got cold boiled eggs). Room is clean, equipped with slippers which is also quite uncommon in Europe. I always bring my own. Very appreciated for this stay.

A functional and well managed hotel which is centrally situated for the town, near bus and train station. We arrived during a heatwave which was uncomfortable as the guest rooms had no air conditioning.

Not at all a good hotel.. Hotel was shut after I had informed them of late arrival.. then after eventually calling a hotel emergency number the person I spoke to was both uncooperative and unsympathetic to our dilemma. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE and this property should be deleted from your list. Peter Behan

Convenient hotel close to services. There for family reasons so fulfilled requirements.

Friendly staff, clean hotel, well located and provides a good breakfast. The bathroom air extractor made some wind noise but nothing too bad.

We were visiting family who did not have room for us to stay and the Hotel provided the accomodation we needed very well

We were looking for a hotel the day before we arrived in Zurich and didn't realize the price of hotels skyrocketed. In order to avoid to hefty price tag, we booked this hotel that is still expensive, but cheaper compared to those in downtown Zurich. Turns out we didn't actually save that much money at all, because the train ticket from Zurich main station to Uster (where the hotel is located at) is 11 euro per person one way... so if the primary focus of your trip is Zurich, do not recommend this hotel as the transportation cost can really add up. With that said, the hotel feels like an unfinished project that ran out of budget and had to be finished off hastily...The restaurant area is extremely well-done and ambitious, however, the ground floor entrance is just a large, empty space, which is pretty strange. The rooms, again, were very bare bone and the décor of the bathroom is cheap, again BIG departure from luxury of the restaurant area. Some issues with soundproofing as steps and neighbors' conversations can be overheard. On the other hand, the staff, especially the breakfast staff, are fantastic! And Uster is a quiet suburban area with a handful of good restaurant choice.

There are major construction projects going on in the hotel and around it. Just finding the parking garage you have to go through a construction site. The hotel is located in a great location with many restaurants nearby and close to the train station. With all the construction the noise still was not that bad.

When we were told after booking that there were renovations going on we never expected the whole building and buildings on either side of it to be renovated/ built. The noise of the construction once it started at 7 am and ended by 4 pm was unbearable. Hotel staff walked around with earplugs which were offered to guests and the construction workers were everywhere Access was only through the garage( which was also being worked on and scary with loose electric wires hanging off ceilings etc.), 2 flights down in the basement and up a service elevator. Felt sorry for the staff who were wonderful. The hotel should really be shut down during these major renovations. I'd consider coming back once it's done, but not before as besides great staff the location is excellent.

Access to car park was difficult due to construction work. However, this was out of the hotel's control. Signage for hotel parking was adequate. Staff and room excellent. Location good for shops and restaurants.

No air condition . Breakfast is simple but acceptable .
