it really enjoyed my stay here, and the room was much more than I had expected, with a little kitchenette, a table space, and a balcony of a good size.

I was extremely happy with this establishment not only because of the amenities, but mainly because of the front desk staff, particularly with Patricia, who impressed me with her ‘happy person’ demeanor and her dedication to go beyond what’s expected from a welcoming agent, and by making the customer feel important. Thank you for this memorable encounter.

This hotel is in a great location, but be prepared for lots of extra charges. While we enjoyed the beautiful setting, it felt like the hotel was overly focused on making money off guests. For example, we were charged €15 just to use the in-room safe, and €1 for each clean towel. Parking is €13 per night, which is fair, but many other small things quickly added up and made the stay feel more expensive than expected. A bit more transparency and value for the price would go a long way.

Beautiful hotel! Service was great! The only downside is they allow smoking in the front entrances to the door so as you are walking in and standing inside you inhale a lot of smoke. The food was great! Pool location rooms perfect!

Our go to place in Funchal. Excellent breakfast, and plenty of dining options nearby plus grocery stores. You will not regret staying here !

very unreliable description and photos, they said that is 200m to the beach but didn’t mentioned that it’s in straight line - if you want to go by walk is about 10 min (1km). we booked the room with partial view of sea (photos connected to the room was quite different, than the room we got) but in fact we had another building in front of our balcony, breakfast it’s rather industrial food, we ordered prepared on place omelette, but it was without taste, terrible

Great stay and clean room with a stunning view of the ocean. Hotel has a ton of great facilities including an outdoor pool. It’s in very close proximity to a few restaurants, tour companies, and public transportation.

Everything was great, accept front desk receptionist rejected our request about higher floor and nice view and tried to offer us lower floor with no privacy. In our request we mentioned about our 45 years marriage celebration, but front desk ignored our request

Good view from the room! I stayed on the 12th floor and the view was stunning to the sea! The pool area is very calming and a perfect place to relax! Lots of variety for breakfast and very friendly staff.

Room was basic and comfortable. You can hear everything from coridor. You have to pay 5€ pp for spa. Breakfast was very good. People at reception was very friendly and helpful. :)

We had a lovely room at this hotel. Bit disappointed that there were only teabags provided in the room - would have been nice to have some coffee and milk. View was good but there is some building work going on next door at the moment so you can hear a-lot of drilling. Good location for restaurants. Good selection of food and drink available at the pool bar. All staff very happy and helpful.

4 day break hotel check in flawless facilities all good with covid measures in place Room cleaned daily no issues. Breakfast good choice hot and cold and as always covid measures in place but not intrusive evening entertainment live band or singer at lounge bar nice touch but like always the staff made the stay always on hand with great tips or assistance and i will definetely be visiting again on my return to Maderia

The hotel is perfectly placed to experience the theatre of the Atlantic Ocean meeting the dark lava rock that surrounds the natural pools. The rooms and restaurant all face the ocean. Free towels and pool access for guests make it inexcusable not to enjoy the warm salt water pools. Everything else is good.

Highly enjoyable stay at Alto Lido on New Year’s Eve. Really classy decor gives an elegant feel to the place. Nice hotel bar. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Pool and rooftop area is very peaceful and relaxing. We travelled with our 16-month-old daughter and this hotel was perfect. Our only slight issue was that we were given a room directly above the lobby bar which had loud music pumping out until 2am - but it was NYE, and we booked very late. Found it very difficult to find any info online about seeing the fireworks - where from etc. Everything just said the marina. The marina was packed with people and it’s quite a walk back to the hotel, so we decided to get back to the hotel around 11:30pm and take our chances. For anyone else wondering if you can see fireworks from the hotel, don’t worry. I’m sure the marina is the optimum place, but we went to the swimming pool sunbathing terrace and were surrounded by amazing fireworks. They are not just in the marina; some were directly in front and behind our hotel. This worked out perfectly for us. Take ear defenders if taking small children / babies. Great experience. Breakfast and room were great too. Would certainly stay here again.
