Fantastic!! All the staff were very hospitable and warm. It was just the perfect relaxing holiday. Food was amazing, location perfect, some shops just outside the resort. I have no complaints.

Nice rooms in nice location. However, severe problems with air-conditioning. The AC would shut down at regular intervals, and on many occasions during the night we would listen to the AC stopping ever minute, listening to it working for about 10 seconds, after which time it would cut out again. This would happen throughout the night. The fault was reported, but nothing was done about it. My son left is mobile phone in the bedroom on our date of departure, and it has never been seen since. The hotel reception staff have stated that staff have looked for the phone, but as it was left in the room, it should have been located. I would suggest therefore that there may be one or two dishonest members of staff working at the hotel, and as a result, I will not be recommending this place to anybody.

This is more like a retreat than a resort, food and service in restaurant very poor unless you wanted the buffet. Off menu choice extremely poor, food cold and tasteless. Nowhere else to eat in the local areaif you want a retreat Ok but as a 4 star resort it was not up to standard. I would not stay again.

Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort is a great place to visit in Kovallam. It is famous for its ayurveda treatments. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. It has its own private beach which is very well maintained.

One can not say enough good things about the people of India and the great staff of the resort. The negatives are: (1) the resort charges western rates for a very average place, and pays the staff very very little. It does not feel right to enable such exploitation of local people. (2) the beaches are dirty. The resort advertises the beach front location, but does not want to clean even the front beach, (3) the access to the beach goes through a water way that is very filthy. If you have any scratches, you should not walk through the water way to the beach, (4) the resort is very very noisy. there is a church and temple with audio recordings on speakers playing from roughly 5AM to 11PM. Besides that, crows, dogs barking, neighbors kids screaming, and garden equipment running most of the day time.

We arrived at 5am directly from the airport and at that time our room was not available, so we were given a lovely little temporary room to sleep and freshen up in. They called us as soon as room was ready and moved all our things for us. Service was fantastic, Monisha looked after us and was wonderful. The resort is surrounded by nature, the sounds and sights are relaxing and calming. We didn't have time to try the Ayurvedic treatments but others seemed to think they were great too.. doctor, dentist consultancy and treatments all appeared to be high quality. Overall an amazing experience and would love to return there someday.

Hotel has got very limited choice of food, no tandoor items, breakfast was very very limited as the food was basically for folks who were getting Ayurvedic treatment done. This resort is very good for privacy, relaxation if you undergo Ayurvedic treatments. The beach is not very near you have to walk down a 50 staircase steps and then 50 more steps.

Beautiful location. Lovely individual cottages and houses in beautiful tropical gardens. Good buffet meals in restaurant. This is primarily an ayurvedic resort but also has excellent beach, much better than nearby Kovalam. Resort does not serve alcohol.

A serious, professional Ayurvedic Resort with comfortable detached rooms and cottages. I appreciated all the medicinal plants in the property with their genus in latin, english and Malyalam/Hindi

The staff was very pleasant; the cleaners were not of a high standard but were very kind and accommodating Massage a was not good and I would not recommend it. Also the Yoga was dreadful the entire class complained and we wasn't charged and we then went to another class and it was just as bad, very disappointing to go to India and the Yoga to be so dreadful The Wi-Fi had constantly faults and was cutting out repeating, you needed 9 different codes from different locations within the resort. Therefore to advertise free Wi-Fi is misleading, as you couldn't even down load a movie without it cutting out. Last but not least don't ask them to arrange a driver as they charge 65% more than if you were going to go on your own back. Also I booked a cab with the hotel for a day for the driver to show and take me around the tourist areas, the driver did not speak English at all and was extremely unfriendly and unkind, in the end I found a local driver from the same cab company who then picked me and took all around for the fraction of the price and was so lovely.

The hotel is located in a quiet area with not much infrastructure. The hotel is ideal. Consists of a secluded bungalow. Territory of the hotel is very clean. Vacationers are mostly European retirees. My spouse received Ayurvedic treatment. The cost of treatment is 60 euros per day and includes massage, medicines, bath and oil acceptance through the mouth. the hotel is in a quiet area with not much infrastructure. The hotel is ideal. Consists of a secluded bungalow. On the hotel is very clean. Vacationers, mostly European retirees. Spouses receive Ayurvedic treatment. The cost of treatment is 60 euros per day. Back massage, medicines, bath oils and acceptance through the mouth. There is no pool in the hotel, but the pool is on the territory of another hotel of the chain, which is located just over the fence. Although the hotel is on the first line, there is no direct access to the sea, there is a way through the same hotel, which is next door. Entrance to that hotel is free fo chain stayers. Kitchen just gorgeous, the service is very studious. I liked everything.

The hotel was an Ayurvedic hotel much like a health resort. It was not what we were looking for, but that was our fault. Nevertheless we found our stay there very pleasant and relaxing. The food was good, Indian and European. The beach was close by but there were few shops. The hotel ran trips daily and provide entertainment (indian music mostly) during dinner. There were few children to disturb the daily peace and other guests were respectful of each other's privacy. A good place to spend some quiet time relaxing, eating well and swimming either in the pool or in the sea, but little else in the way of entertainment in the hotel or nearby. Hammocks were provided outside each cabin One disappointment was that our rooms weren't air-conditioned and the climate was very hot (30-33 degrees C) and humid. Big fans didn't seem to help. A good short break, especially if you are looking for restorative treatment through the science of Ayevurda. Most of the clients were older clients and couples. It might not appeal to most of thethe younger crowd.

Excellent location and perfect environment for a quite stay without any communications disturbing, yet all amenities present (including internet room). Very friendly staff. Excellent beach allowing for long walks (with a bit of caution on your steps). Some improvements required on the food though. Below average quality. Other then that, excellent. Ayurveda treatment available (a bit on the expensive end and prices somewhat exaggerated but still not bad) and lots of nice herbal creams potions and lotions. Definitely recommended for people that look for a quite relaxing stay. No techno , crowded beaches and the sort.
