Lizard Island was unforgettable. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely focused on making every moment feel effortless. The amenities were top-tier—beautiful rooms, thoughtful touches everywhere, and plenty of options to relax or explore. The location is breathtaking, with crystal-clear water and secluded beaches that feel like your own private paradise. And the food was outstanding. All was fresh, creative, and consistently delicious. A truly exceptional stay from start to finish

This was our second stay at this gorgeous property. The beach suite was perfect, great location with ease of accessibility to everywhere on the property. The views are spectacular & the ocean is even better! We find the staff to be engaging, enthusiastic, and very friendly. Of course, snorkeling in the various options around the island are not to be missed. Meals are first class and creative, delicious and we also love the flexibility of the daytime menu for lunch alternative if you're running late or just want a snack. We hope to return again and again thank you for a lovely stay.

Lizard island is incomparable for the beauty of its ocean cove, the excellence of its staff and accommodations, and the wonderfully creative locally sourced meals. The highlight is the great snorkeling (and diving) on it’s healthy reefs.

Amazing luxury resort. Everything from the dining experience to range of actives was top notch. The entire staff (lodging, dining, activities) were friendly and helpful. The stay included a range of actives (included) from guided walks, guided snorkeling, yoga, naturalist talks, and mixology classes. The dining experience was amazing. The chef easily catered to dietary needs. Several beverages are also included. The local reefs were easily accessible from the resort beach and very healthy. Inner and outer reef charters operated every other day. The boat crew was attentive and knew the best sites to visit based on conditions.

Wonderful experience. Perfect location for the blend of bushwalking and exploring of remote beaches and swimming on the reef all the while being hosted in beautiful accommodation with amazing eating experiences. Excellent wines and super attentive friendly staff. A credit to Australian tourism. Perfect holiday for a couple.

Amazing island vacation. The resort is on the smaller end which made it great to have lots of privacy on the various beaches. Service was outstanding, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The snorkeling was great and the hike to the top of the island provided amazing views. Overall we had a very relaxing stay and would definitely come back!

The resort has the advantage of being on a fantastic, quiet and immensely beautiful island, with white sandy beaches in the middle of the great barrier reef. Great snorkeling at the doorstep, surrounded by nature. No day tourists. What you’re paying for are the location, the service (staff is extremely friendly and attentive) and the quietness. If you want a luxurious room with private pool etc. you’re in the wrong place. The rooms are a nice size with view of the bay and a balcony (even the garden rooms we were in). They are not luxurious though, and the bathroom (shower and toilet part) was even pretty basic and run down. New showerhead with good pressure though. It’s the service at the bar and restaurant as well as the beach club which makes this a luxury place though. You get taken to any beach on the island (as far as tides allow) either by the team, or you can take your own little dinghy (both complimentary). Food is great, a good selection of drinks is inclusive, snorkeling gear hire is included. All great there. Also communication is good on what’s included and what is not. All in all a great experience. Can only recommend it

This is a fabulous location and resort. Of course, the reef is the star attraction (and it is glorious), so the resort's varied activities capitalise on that to make the most of it. Plus, very comfortable, good food and great service. It's a terrific package, justifying the high cost.

Had a incredible stay at the lizard hotel. I will admit its extremely expensive and a bit over the top, but it was worth it for the location. Location to the great barrier reef is amazing. I am a scuba diver and the main reason was visiting the outer reef. It did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. Rooms were nice comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. It wasn't very crowded when I was there so most of the time we had a private beach to ourself! The dinghy rental/beach picnic is a must. My husband also enjoyed exploring some of the other beaches and going to cooks look. We dont usually spend this much on a hotel, but since we wanted to do the great barrier reef and see cod hole w/o doing a live aboard this was the perfect option for us.

Wonderful location IN the Great Barrier Reef. Low occupancy our 5 days so no hassles about booking services. Food was FABULOUS as advertised. Certainly a luxury at the rates. But probably the most relaxing four days of my life.

This is a one of a kind destination. They offer diving, snorkeling, hiking, sunset cruises, private beaches, swimming with turtles, educational tours, wine tasting, bird watching etc. It is also wonderful to just lay on the beach in front of your room. Everyone is so busy that the beach is usually empty. They offer about 6-8 dining choices and will accommodate any dietary restrictions. The service is really wonderful too. I think the staff really make this place top notch.

We had an incredible time here, a once in a lifetime experience! We felt like we were on a deserted island but with every amenity you could wish for. The resort is beautifully set out along the shoreline & into the hills just above with amazing views over the ocean. The food was excellent & the staff were always willing to help or advise. Wish we could've stayed a bit longer.

Overall experience was severely lacking for a property at this price point. While Lizard Island certainly lived up to expectactions as a unique haven for getting close the Great Barrier Reef, too many things jus didn't add up. For a property with only 40 rooms, we expected hightly personalized service and received exactly the opposite. Not a single staff member (except the manager) knew our names, preferences, or seemed to care. Orders were taken multiple times and even then not correct. They were friendly enough, but didn't seem adequately trained and thus the service level felt like that at a large chain hotel. The food quality (it is all included) was excellent, but selections extremely limited. One of two more choices, or better yet the ability to provide preferences prior to arrival would have elevated the dining experience beyond the faily ordinary meals that it became. Restaurant setting was magical, however, and the included wines were very smart choices. We had a sunset view room, and the villa was large and very comfortable at first glance. However, the shades didn't close completely, so it was impossible to sleep past daybreak. Housekeeping was the same as the restaurant standard, very impersonal and not timed well to match the obvious times we were out of the room. We didn't have any specific problems, but when you pay these rates feel that a high standard expectation is justified.
