If you want a hotel with every room pristine and identical then this is not for you. If you'd rather crooked walls, creaky floors and lots of character then you'll love the Old Hall Hotel.

Very poor room. There was a conference on so the hotel was full and we seem to have been given the worst room. There was a very loud extraction fan running all night, outside the bedroom window so we couldn’t sleep. The bathroom was very old and badly in need of refurbishment. The waiting staff at breakfast were very disinterested and did not refill any of the buffet. Not worth the cost we paid at all.

Very poor facilities, not worth the money. The bathroom ceiling was even leaking. I told the reception, and she just replied would get someone to take a look. No one come. If you have other choice, don't choose this one.

This is our second stay at the hotel. We had a four poster room which had a lovely large room filled with antique furniture. Lovely large bathroom. Check in and out was very quick, friendly and professional. Breakfast was excellent and all staff very helpful and professional. Definitely would return and recommend this great location hotel

The room that was shown as available was not a correct representation of the room and left a lot to be desired in terms of accessibility. The Hotel did ring late morning to advise step stairs. However we had already committed ourselves to travel and this was the last room available. The furnishings were stained in room and bar area to the extent that you didn’t want to sit on them. The food shown on website was not a true reflection of that available having looked at both bar menu and restaurant menu. There was no phone in room and nothing to show what to do in event of a fire. The staff however were very pleasant and the breakfast room and food were good.If the rest of the premises were decorated to the same standard we would have returned but not as it is.

The biggest downfall was the cleanliness and the overall impression was tatty. In the room there was dust everywhere. The shelf on the bedside cabinet was thick with dust. Dust on the TV edges. The edges along the mirror stand were thick with dust. The net curtains were dirty and ripped. There was no toilet brush, no plastic beakers in the bathroom and the toilet bowl was stained. On the second day all the breakfast food was cold, we dined at 9AM. Two juice jugs were empty, there weren't any bottles of water and hardly any glasses. There was no beer in the bar, just lager. Guinness wasn't on draft, even though there was a hand pull, it was served in tins.

Great location and friendly staff, but the building needs serious updates. The hotel is in an excellent location, the breakfast was good, everything was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the building itself is very dated and in desperate need of renovation. It feels quite run-down and worn out, which detracts from the overall experience.

It is a very old building in need of a complete renovation. We paid £160 a night which is not what you would expect from a property in these conditions. It does not have parking (you need to pay extra for street parking) and they charge additional £20 if you have a pet. Again double what others do. A bit of a rip off.

It’s possibly the most tired property I’ve ever stayed at. The pigeons on my windowsill started coo-ing at 3.30am and didn’t stop. No prospect of sleep. It’s awful.
