This place was absolutely amazing. Our little bungalow was steps away from the beach next to the tilted palm tree next to the ocean. We came at the end of October and it was low season so very few people were around. It made for a very relaxing stay. The pool was great, it was gigantic and an infinity pool that looked out over the ocean. Very relaxing to swim there at night. There are two or three different restaurants at the entrance to the hotel as well as a 7-Eleven. In case you needed to grab anything. The location is kind of far away from nightlife if that's what you're looking for. The beach made up for it though, it was beautiful and warm. Sunrises were amazing. The only downfall to this hotel is the lack of lighting on the pathways. It didn't feel like it was lighted enough with all the steps that are involved. This place is built along a hillside and you will be going up and down a hill to go anywhere. My wife liked it so much she wants to plan our kids future wedding there!

Disappointed with lighting in the room. Although the staff gave us an extra lamp it appears this was the only room missing the chandelier. As a gold member, I would have expected a better room than the one staff gave us especially given our stay was for 5 days. The resort was in a good spot with private beach etc. Needs a bit of a revamp, fresh paint, tidier rooms, better lighting etc.

We stayed in a beach front villa and enjoyed our time on the ocean. The staff was friendly and attentive to guest needs. The area had a good selection of walkable restaurants. Go treat yourself to a walk and massage on the beach

Perfect if you want a quiet stay as it’s a little bit off a walk from the busy areas. Grab available in the area though. All staff friendly and helpful and helped us book in multiple trips throughout our stay.

Jay and her team were outstanding. They made our stay at New Star pleasant. The breakfast buffet was good and of course the service was on point. The bar and pool area are also very nice and well managed. Good food and drinks and well-priced for a hotel. The property is set up well and everything is a short walk away however the rooms are dated. We had a villa which was probably beautiful at some point but it needs renovating particularly the bathroom. The shower was terrible. The water pressure was very weak and the temperature wouldn’t stay constant. The sink area felt old and unclean (it looked clean and I’m sure the staff did their best). The shower gel and shampoo were ok but there was no body lotion. The old style room key made it so we we couldn’t leave the AC on while out of the room because we had to take it with us and this would switch off the electricity. So we would come back to a scorching room that would take 20-30mins to cool off.

Friendly efficient staff, good room, lovely gardens and nice beach. The quality of the food, however, was bland.

The highlight was breakfast with an excellent range of both Thai and Western cuisine complemented by friendly and attentive staff. The swimming pool is quite large with varying depths and never crowded. The beach is kept clean with some shaded areas. Unfortunately our room revealed some examples of maintenance neglect. Daily housekeeping is inconsistent when providing a clean, complete set of towels. One air conditioning unit to cool the bedroom area does not reach other areas of the bungalow which can become quite hot (perhaps consider the addition of a fan in the bathroom). Separate information about what television channels (and languages) are available would be helpful.

Very nice location.

Felt really welcome. My room was unreal. The staff were kind and helpfull. The hotel is located in a really good place the on the beach with a nice pool and bar. All round a really good hotel.

The manager went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were spacious and clean. The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and kind. We definitely plan to come back.

Really wanted to write a negstive review for New Star Resort, just to keep people from discovering this somewhat hidden gem....but I just couldn't do it. This resort was exactly what I was looking for when booking to Koh Samui. A liitle south of the main city area, so away from the crowds and much quieter, but not too far for quick transportation. The resort itself was ideal. I had a bugalow room 30 m. from the beach. Long walkable beach either direction. 5 star hotels on either side, but you're not paying 5 star prices, for the same strip of beach. Entire staff were super friendly and helpful. (I know everone seems to say that but I've stayed at two other locations on this trip and while the were okay to good in terms if service, neither were up to New Star level.) Love this place!

Great spot, excellent beachfront and grounds, great service. Great buffet breakfast. Great location on one of best beaches on island - quieter and less busy than the main Chaweng beach. A great experience all around - would definitely come back !
