Nice breakfast. Would have liked the use of a bike like many of the other hotels offer.

Close to the centre, great vibe!

The location was a bit far from the train station and street signs were not available to help locate the facility (this was not the hotel's fault). The staff was very helpful and friendly (especially the one who worked in the breakfast room) and provided information we needed. Room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable.

The hotel was very good, exellent staff, very friendly. Located in a quiet corner just 2 mins from the lakeside,we found it very convenient also for the centre of town. Enjoyed the resort, good shops restaurants etc.

The hotel was clean, although basic, and the staff were lovely and very attentive. The hotel was with a few minutes walking distant of the lake making it ideal.

Very good location.Very near Desenzano centre just few minutes walk from the shops ,restaurants and bars.Lake one minute walk only. Very ample parking space and you don't need to worry about a parking space when you go out.Staff helpful and friendly.Rooms and service are very good. I will certainly go back.

Cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in. Staff are brilliant and speak perfect English as well as most other languages. Position is very good with a small car park just off the main road. We would definitely go here again, the staff are so helpful and although the room was not modern and brand new it was so clean.

Don't be put off by the 3 star rating. The only thing the hotel misses is a lake view but if you're like us and are looking for a base close to everything to be out and about all day - this is the place to stay. Very welcoming staff and overall a good experience. Just a short walk to the centre.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Astoria hotel. The room was large, airy, very clean and had excellent air conditioning and a ceiling fan! The owners really made the stay though - very friendly and helpful and answered all of my questions. Fantastic breakfast, much better than the average. Quiet location just off the road near the lake - note to visitors: google maps puts this further up the hill, it is in fact off Via dei Caporali. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel - would definitely stay again.

Rooms basic but clean and functional. Staff all very helpful with lots of good local tips and advice. Free wifi very useful for keeping in touch with home. Free internet access also available at reception. Buffet breakfasts in the morning with good selection of food catering for all. The hotel is about 20-25 minutes walk from Desenzano railway station with high speed and local train connections to Venice (90 min) and Milan (60-90 min). The town is the largest on the lake and whilst not as picturesque as others on the lake, best location to use as a base for exploring the whole region given the excellent port and rail links. Can catch boats to virtually anywhere on lake as the port is the main hub for the lake.

Our stay at Hotel Astoria was the highlight out of our 10 day trip through France and Italy. The owner, Gisberto, is an absolute delight and exactly who you want to greet you at the start of a vacation. You can tell right from the start that he cares about his hotel and the guests who stay there. The rooms were very comfortable, the bathrooms were pristine and the rooftop garden was absolutely adorable. We took a bottle of wine to the rooftop - which Gisberto kindly opened for us - and enjoyed a great view of the lake. Breakfast is provided each morning and out of this world. Such a great spread and much more than I've ever seen included in the price of a hotel stay. Hotel Astoria is in a great location, just a few minutes from the ferries and about 20 minutes from the train station. From the hotel, everything in Desenzano seems very accessible. Also a great starting point to take day trips to nearby towns, which we did by boat. We visited Sirmione per Gisberto's recommendation and loved every minute of it. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone looking for an affordable and clean place to stay in Desenzano. I only wish that we could go back more often because we enjoyed the experience so much!

We have booked a three night stay here with Expedia. As we have found out when we arrived Hotel Astoria is closed. Expedia should have known that and not book us into a closed hotel. I have booked the stay with Expedia, Expedia has taken the money from my credit card on August 11th. I expect a full refund and compensation for a night wasted on the phone in the street until past midnight talking to the Expedia customer support who did nothing to resolve the situation. I have no email address to contact the Expedia customer support and thus my request to them is: 1. Immediate refund of the money that Expedia has taken. 2. A compensation for a lost night which we should have spent into a hotel room instead of talking to their support on the street. We have evidence of the chat with the Expedia customer support. Our reservation was starting on 4th of September. We waited for 2 hours until 23:55 for their staff to resolve the situation - during 2 hours they came up with no proposal, no solution, nothing but excuses. They should have booked us into another hotel instead of leaving us on the street to wait indefinitely. I have a case number given by the customer support who has promised us a refund in the morning of September 5th. The case number is S-215434108
