The location was central - excellent. Wi-fi was not available - important to me. Also I would appreciate drinking water availability in house or room. Hot water in the bathroom was too hot - scolding possibility - few degrees lower would be safer and would cut the cost of electricity and less carbon footprint.

This is a cheap hotel by Sitges standards, so you do need to lower your expectations. That said, the bed was comfy and the shower was good. It's long overdue for a refurbishment though. There is a lot of noise from adjacent rooms, slamming doors, the maids, and the street outside so it's not a good hotel for light sleepers. The fire alarm woke us up twice during our stay. The breakfast is hit and miss. The hot food was mostly cold, and the breakfast items were not kept topped up. Numerous times we had to ask for things that had run out. On one occasion, they had completely run out of sausages 1 hour before breakfast had finished. Don't even think about trying to get a sunbed round the pool as there are nowhere near enough of them, but the beach is only 10 minutes walk. Be very wary about leaving bags in the luggage room - my bag was opened and a £5 phone charger was stolen.

Quaint little old hotel, very close to the beach in Sitges. Wonderful breakfast and a great pool with swifts flying above it morning and night. You can ask the front desk for an umbrella and a beach chair if you’d like to spend the day along the sea. Super friendly staff.

Remember the end of the Shower Head episode of Seinfeld where Kramer turned on his shower (the one for elephants) and the water pressure knocked him over? Hotel El Cid has those in their rooms. 12/10 would return just for the showers.

This is my 3rd time at the hotel. It’s a great choice for a simple, straightforward hotel in the town centre. Only a few minutes’ walk from the train station and the beaches, it’s clean and quiet. My early April stay of 4 nights was over the Easter weekend but the hotel was nice and quiet. The complimentary breakfast was good, the usual choice of cereal, yoghurts, fruit, good quality bread and pastries as well as bacon and scrambled eggs. The inside decor is quite dark, there’s not much natural light. The staff were great and my check-in was very quick even though I arrived very late in the evening.
