The hotel building and rooms are good. Spacious, clean with a good maid service. It doesn't offer 4 star service. The reception staff are lovely but hopeless. They could not help with trips and didn't even know that there was a bus service with a stop outside the hotel to Catania. They made no attempt to provide gluten free and dairy free products for us despite my requesting it on the booking and subsequently when we were there...which really isn't good enough as these things are available from the little supermarket in the same street. The buffet breakfast was sad, limited and repetitive -certainly not 4 star...and we had to provide our own. The car park below should be free for guests. Once again I got conflicting information from reception about paying for it. One person said I could pay at the end of my stay at check out, another said I had to pay the man in the car park...and final settlement of car park and local tax had to be in cash? Is this a 4 star hotel or a street trader? Not able to use credit card. Absurd. Overall poor service from what could be a lovely hotel. Need to sharpen their act with respect to guests needs and be more helpful about local knowledge and improve the food on offer.
