W hi at an incredible surprise when we checked in. So much greater than the pics The History of the place, and all the amenities. The room was spectacular looking over the park and canal. So peaceful. Yet it was so close to everything. This was the crown jewel in our visit to Netherlands. We fell in love with Utrecht. I will recommend Karel-V as top place to stay. The staff were so helpful getting us to the hotel when we got lost. Sent a taxi for us. Thankyou so much for such a memorable time.

The center of Utrecht is quaint and charming and the Grand Karel V is situated nicely within that but still feels quiet and even estate-like.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay ar Grand Hotel Karel V! It was relaxing, quiet, a beautiful setting, fantastic location, excellent service, impeccably decorated and maintained and overall deserving of the 5 stars! We had the opportunity to dine at the Michelin Star restaurant Karel V, and is was absolutely outstanding as well! We look forward to returning.

Absolutely super - it's not a cheap option, but for the utter serenity of the place coupled with staff who will happily go the extra mile to help you, it is wonderful. Thoroughly recommendable!

Wonderful hotel with stunning service

Wonderful large property. Classy and old-world with modern service Quiet but 2 blocks away from the action. The desk staff were welcoming and friendly and helpful.

It’s a great hotel, enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was perfect!

A warm welcome on arrival. Lovely room in a separate building to the main one. Nice gardens and view from the room. Access to the spa included, but the pool was out of use both days. Charged extra by accident when checking out, but recitifed when phoned.

While I’ve been a huge fan of this hotel and of Utrecht - this stay was marred by a disastrous New Year’s Eve dinner the hotel offered at their brasserie. They touted it when calling us before hand so we thought ok. 400euros for poor service, and poorer food. In fact, we had to leave before complete because of how I’ll we both felt. The food poisoning was so bad we spent the next day (New Years) in bed and had to alter our plans to stay an additional night to recover. When I told reception they “promised to speak to management and pass along and make it right”. Nothing ever happened after that. A shame that such a beautiful property is essentially now seen as unsafe not only by their onsite offerings, but by a staff that does not take the well being of its guests seriously.
