Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and extensive. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day. We were well received by the reception. Claudio in particular, was always helpful, always ready to answer our questions. He was well informed about what there was to do in Pelourinho and the surrounding area. And as a guide he took us around to various sights and could tell us a lot about them. Thanks to his information, we had a wonderful time in the Pousada da Mangueira. Air conditioning in the room was a joy. Staff were friendly, smiley and helpful. The pool is well maintained and cleaned daily. The gardens are full of wildlife. Claudio especially goes above and beyond his duties to help. Very close to the Pelorinho and a great base for carnival.

We had a lovely time at Mangeira. Though the room was not large, it was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The property is gated and feels safe and secure. It was a short walk to the historic Pelhourinho and Mercado, although anyone with limited mobility would have a difficult time navigating the sharp slope down and then up again to get there. The pool was nice to come back to after a day at Carnaval, and the poolside bar featured reasonable drinks and delicious caipirinhas. Friends staying at other pousadas in the neighborhood were jealous of this beautiful property and amazing view of town. Breakfast was varied and tasty. My only hesitation about staying here again during the week of Carnaval is that the convenience of staying so close to the Pelourinho meant that loud music could be heard day and night- a great party atmosphere for Carnaval, but not good for sleeping. Note: I have been here in January also, when the town is quieter, and there is a much more serene atmosphere at that time. Just know what you are getting into during Carnaval! There was even a fun Carnaval party here for guests featuring a pool party and live music. I would definitely come back to stay at this wonderful pousada.

The best pousada in Salvador! The owner (not completely sure about this) and receptionist Claudio was the sweetest, most helpful man— he booked tours for me, made sure I was satisfied, he is the epitome of Brazilian hospitality. There was a nice social vibe at this pousada and it was extremely safe! Located in the heart of pelhourino— perfect for tourism. The rooms were clean and very beautiful. I would highly recommend this place!
