Not good

We could not find the hotel because the name has changed. It is no longer Holiday Inn Express. We had not been notified by email. We wasted an hour in the afternoon heat searching and finally found it. See photo. Our first room had a cracked sink and the safe was not working (photos). The manager was sympathetic and offered a different room with a noisy air conditioner. Our third room was fine except that the sink was cracked, the safe didn't work and there was black mold on the bathroom walls and shower glass (photos). This room later developed a noisy air conditioner. Breakfasts were typical Holiday Inn Express format and good. The white vertical pole in this area was filthy (photo) and some seats were ripped (photo). Bed linens were very good. We felt the area is not safe at night. There is spray-painted graffiti everywhere outside the hotel and in many places throughout the city. There is a good grocery store next to the hotel. Very handy to have the train station and bus station across the street. Avoid the laneway to the right down the street from this hotel. There are areas of piled garbage, men in doorways and garbage on the streets. We hope that the new owners of this hotel will do a thorough renovation. This is the first time in many years of travelling that we have encountered problems at a major hotel.

Good location. Good value. Breakfast included. Right across from the train station. Only complaint is that there are few restaurants around.

Location and staff

This hotel is not belonging to Holiday Inn Express anymore. Now management locked all safe boxes. Guests are not allowed to use it. But on there website still listed safe box in room. My room sink was blocked before I checked in, I reported to front desk immediately, no one came. Until evening I insisted to change a room. The young lady in front desk was not reliable.

Convenient for the train passengers, but nothing is really special in the area, even no decent restaurants around.

Very basic accommodation. Clean beds and bathroom. No fridge in the room.

Basic hotel near train station. Decent breakfast. One of the few hotels in the area with enough height for a view.

The gentlemen at the desk was very friendly. The hallways and the room need a facelift. Chipped paint, stained carpets. The room was unusually large with a large workspace. The bed was comfortable. I was on the second floor facing the busy street. Fortunately I had earplugs. Breakfast was good. Convenient location.

Staff was very nice. The room was nice and clean, perfect if you arrive at the train station late like we did. The breakfast was wonderful too, lots of options. Would stay there again.

The hotel was great for proximity to the train station but the area around the hotel is not somewhere you would want to walk around at night.

Hotel staff pick and choose when they speak English and when they suddenly don’t. Security could care less about protecting guests/the facilities. The rooms themselves are in desperate need of repair. Stains on the walls and floors. Black mold in the shower. Overall, terrible. Find a different hotel.
