We booked for 2nights 13th & 14th Feb but we checked out on the sat 14th at 2pm as our room was cold we did not use the shower for this reason, the corridor leading up to our room 303 was warm but when we opened our door the room was considerably colder we mentioned this to the receptionist on our exit she did apologise .. We traveled from York for our valentine w/end away this had spoilt our experience

Poor stay lack of staff at the hotel, toast and coffee took 30 mins to arrive from ordering at breakfast, only 3 people seated for breakfast so no excuse to super slow service. Hotel very cold and felt run down overall would not rush back.

Welcoming reception staff. Greeted with a nice smile upon arrival. Comfortable room, nice to get a complementary upgrade on arrival. Very well placed for walking into the city. For the evening meal, I asked specifically ‘no cheese’ with my salmon and fries. The fries came coated in truffle and pecorino cheese; not a subtle taste. These are, I was told, their ‘signature’ fries and ‘House fries’ although the menu lists fries, with truffle and pecorino at an extra, added charge! ‘Continental’ breakfast has to be ordered; there is no buffet to select from. So it is porridge OR cereal OR croissant for £16. Even B&Bs do not restrict breakfast like this, nor charge such an extortionate amount for 1 item of food. Want more than one cup of coffee? That’s £5 extra. Want more than one small glass of juice with your breakfast? That’s another £4. What would our continental friends think of that? The room had two cartons of water, with a small card headed ‘thirsty?’ The VERY small print advises each (warm) carton of water costs £2.50. They aren’t in a mini bar; at first glance, they appear to be the complementary waters that so many hotels offer. Air conditioning (as standard now a days) didn’t work, so had to wrap up in our clothes and bed wear just to stay warm. My advice if staying at this hotel, is only come here if you’re familiar with the person you’re staying with and body confident; as the bath is in the main room itself, separated with a transparent glass panel. The toilet a

Room was noisy (facing the main road), and also felt quite cold, the balcony door didn't seem to seal properly when closed (so a bit of draft was coming in)

Room was great, clean and tidy. I really enjoyed how spacious it was. The bed was very comfy. Few issues: I couldn’t control my thermostat. It was set to [CENTRAL] temperature. I had to go down to reception to get this changed to a colder temperature, but then I woke up freezing. The Wifi was hardly usable, the speed was extremely slow. The service in the restaurant this morning for breakfast was very slow.

Immediately on arrival I noticed that the entrance areas were not very clean. (We entered via the lift from the car park). This included stains on the lift doors and buttons, as well as hairs on carpet in the lift. The general condition of the suite I had booked was very dissapointing and rather shabby. There were loose skirting boards in the bathroom, the curtains were ripped at the bottom, the furniture/floorboards were marked and damaged, damaged bedding, stains on bathroom walls/tops and yellow stained bathmatts. The stay became even worse when we went for breakfast the next morning and found out that we could only have a continental breakfast and that we would have to pay for a full English Breakfast. This meant that we had to walk into town for the two mornings we were staying at the hotel. The trip was supposed to be a pleasant celebration of our anniversary, but it turned into a truly miserable experience. The suite we had booked was £250 a night and unfortunately what we found was neglect and the lack of attention to detail, which can make a stay special. Some money was refunded after we complained but no amount of money will repay the disappointment me and my partner felt throughout the stay.

Having stayed at Manchester Abode a number of years ago, we were looking forward to our stay. Sadly this Abode feels like it is on its last legs. We were told by reception upon arrival that there was a company sell off and this is one if two abodes remaining. The property is poorly maintained, and our room has a stench of drains and the breakfast buffet was very limited off menu. Staff seem understandably demoralised. Not recommended. Sad to report as very hapoy memories of Manchester now sold off.
