Feels very much like what would happen if a Dutch hotel and a South African hotel had a baby. Beautiful grounds and structures overlooking a peaceful river. Outstanding staff who clearly put customer service above all else. The only downsides arevthat the smallish standard rooms, and if you’re hoping for decent coffee (outside of purchasing the breakfast buffet or room service), you are out of luck.

This hotel was located in a lovely rural area close to a quiet river with footpaths and country lanes ideal for bicycling. It caters to small congresses and conferences, its my impression. There's not a lot to do in the immediate area so its perfect for group events or for people looking for rest and relaxation. The public facilities were nice; however, I arrived late at night from Dalfsen and it was dead quiet with no idea of how to get to the hotel. Taxi took 15-20 minutes to arrive at the station and after 25 euros and 15 more minutes I arrived at the hotel. The hotel seems a bit understaffed at times, though once you're able to find someone they are very happy and willing to provide assistance. (They even opened the kitchen for me and prepared a meal at 10pm eventhough room service normally ends at 9pm...this was much appreciated). Rooms are a bit on the small side but perfectly serviceable...you don't want to spend time in your room anyway as the natural beauty of the area is calling you away. I was there on a day when the temps were 32 degrees and was sorely missing air conditioning but I'm sure this is a rare problem for Holland. Overall a nice experience but be warned that the experience is geared towards large groups and not the individual traveler, in my humble opinion.

The hotel was very nice, and in a pretty quiet location overlooking the river and pastures, and the chef at the hotel restaurant was exceptional. The room was extremely cold and the radiator did not work, and hotel staff did nothing to fix the situation. Also, housekeeping did not replace sheets and towels for our second day's stay, despite being asked. Again, a very nice place, but would have been a more comfortable stay with better attentiveness from the staff.

The hotel was nice.. pretty and clean.. and the chef at the restaurant was exceptional. The room was very uncomfortable, unfortunately, because it was extremely cold and the radiator did not work. Hotel staff came to look at the radiator and kept saying it would heat up eventually.. which it never did during our entire stay. Also housekeeping did not replenish complimentary items or change sheets and towels for our second day, even after our request.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel/ conference centre is in a beautiful riverside location, and the chef's surprise dinner menu was excellent - enjoyed watching sunset across meadows. One slight disappointment was breakfast service which was not of the same quality when we went down just before 10am.

I stay in the Netherlands almost weekly and this hotel is a good find. NIce staff, and very good food. Set in as good a countryside as you are going to find. Down side is restaurant was small and cramped, this might have been because there was no conference on. Also as is the way at most Dutch hotels too hot and no aircon.Reccomended

Overall the positive: The property is beautiful. The lobby and main areas are beautifully designed with great attention to detail. For me, that's great.... But, for some reason, they are so focused on conferences for it's main business that it's off-putting if you're not there for a conference. (We were were there for a getaway 3 day weekend from Germany, although we live in NYC.) Im a travel writer and travel a lot and most hotels make a large portion of their business on conferences, but they successfully integrate that fact it into their business—at Mooirivier, most of the signage is "conference- signage" and the layout didnt take "non-conference" patrons into consideration. Overall it would a great place if they were able to make the "conference-hotel theme" more subtle. For instance, to get to the rooms, you have to walk though a conference area and after the beautiful entrance, the long hallway of rooms feels like dorm rooms for a conference. the rooms... they could easily make the conference areas more discrete. We paid extra for a "comfort room." On arrival, the armoire is right in front of the entry door and the bathroom door hits the armoire and they cannot be opened at the same time. Comfort? The room was quite small considering it is in the countryside ( a city-room might be expected to be so tight). Comfort? The bathroom: annoyingly, there was almost no place to put anything down. about a foot square to put some toiletries but no room for 2 dop-kits, no place to put your clothes down before taking a shower. There was 1 hook (for towels - no hook for clothes or a robe-- and the hook was in the shower so if you put your clothes there or a robe... they'd get wet. comfort? nope.) The hotel was billed as an eco hotel, so why were the 2 cups in the bathroom thin disposable cups?(not eco!) I placed my toothbrush in the cup and it immediately fell over into the sink. The comp. soap was a tiny aprox. 1' flat square of soap that dissolved before the shower was even over, leaving nothing to wash hands with later.... comfort? the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom discomforts and room size spoiled things for me. One other lack of comfort: I suppose due to their focus on conferences, they weren't clear that we had to make a reservation for dinner every day or there was no dinner for hotel guests... We spent hours aimlessly driving around the surrounding towns looking for an open restaurant with someone eating in it. After the 2nd night we didn't bother making a reservation because we felt uncomfortable. Overall, it is a very nice place, could be better if they considered the "non-conference" patron.
