This hotel is a little oasis outside of Hermanus. The garden is beautiful full of art and flowers. We really enjoyed eating at the restaurant for the two evenings we were there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Bed was super comfortable and the room spacious. Great view of the sea too.

Our room was beautiful with a spectacular view. The staff could not be more helpful. The shuttle bus was a bonus that we didn’t expect. The food was delicious. The only minor downside was the colour (grey) and size of the pool - although it was always spotlessly clean it appeared a bit murky. However, it wasn’t - it was just that it was painted grey.

Only 5 mins drive from central Hermanus - room was very large and had a splendid sea-facing view. The bed was very comfy and the staff were very friendly. We dined at the hotel - the menu was simple yet tasty. This hotel is best enjoyed when you are driving yourself as taxis are quite expensive.

My wife and I had a one night stay as we toured the wineries in the Hermanus area. The hotel was not in Hermanus but a little way out at Sandbaai with spectacular ocean views from the restaurant. At breakfast we saw whales in the bay. Breakfast was excellent and quality of the food outstanding. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately our room had no ocean view. We looked on to a brick wall. For the price of the room this was very disappointing.

The view from Crayfish Cottage is stunning, a short walk onto the rocks. Breakfast is something not to be missed and the service is excellent. Its quiet so you can enjoy the bird calls and the sound of the sea yet only a few minutes drive from Hermanus beachfront. We would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful modern hotel with its own garden for fruits and vegetables plus an adorable little tortoise garden where they have rescued baby tortoises. The views are amazing from the lounge and eating area.

Our stay at Schulphoek Seafront Guesthouse & Restaurant was one of the best places we visited in South Africa, a truly 5 star experience with personal service, privacy, dedicated chefs and even onsite organic gardens for fresh greens with each meal. We selected food type and the menu was specifically designed for our personal preferences. From a very luxurious room to the wonderful views of the seashore this is a first class guesthouse. The owner is a sommelier with a great wine cellar to complement each meal with an excellent pairing. Not to be missed when in Hermanus for whale watching or wine tasting.

I spent 4 nights at Schulphoek Guesthouse and enjoyed every minute. The facilities are really first rate - Janet and her team have put a great deal of effort into thinking of every detail that a traveler might need, from the first class coffee and tea set (along with nuts, fruit, and more each day), to the towels, robes, and luxurious crisp white sheets. The rooms are enormous and very comfortable, each with its own veranda overlooking the gardens. Breakfast is hearty and healthy, and more than sufficient for me to only browse lightly during the day until dinner, several of which I took at Schulphoek's restaurant. The setting is intimate and lovely, with plenty of opportunity to interact with other diners or to retreat to your own corner, as you wish. The food itself is fresh and well prepared by the wonderful staff - I had local fish one night and kudu and springbok (both, pretty much the same as venison) the other two. To accompany the meats there was salad and vegetables from the garden, home made bread, and delightful deserts. Oh yes, and while I am not a serious drinker, those who care to can visit the extensive wine cellar to choose their evening beverage. Most of all, Schulphoek is extremely accommodating to the visitor, arranging for hikes, tours, connections to the airport and more such that my stay was hassle free. Thanks to Janet, Chris and everyone at Schulphoek for the delightful visit.

Homely and well run guest house with very pleasant rooms, facilities and staff. We really enjoyed our stay which we extended to three nights - driving quite far afield to see the beautiful beaches, towns and countryside. We also took advantage of the well planned sea walkway (west) of the guest house, enjoying the ocean waves, rock formations and nature. Hermanus is a little touristy, but has some very good restaraunts, which the staff happlily reserved and directed us to.
