The first room #16 was totally unacceptable with damp and mold settling around the vent. Not at all what we were expecting. After complaining we were upgraded to the largest room in the hotel which is what we thought we would get in the first place. The best part of the experience was meeting the chef, Olivier Lataste who created sumptuous meals for us.

This was a stopover on our way back to the UK from Spain. We arrived quite late and so chose to grab a takeaway from the McDonalds opposite and eat in the room. We stayed as a couple with one small dog. The hotel is lovely and the receptionist was helpful. The room was small but adequate. The bed was comfy but the pillows were dreadful. The bathroom was well equipped but there was dust on the skirting and boxed in pipes which wasn’t nice. The toilet roll holder was also broken. All in all we would stay here again.

Wonderful warm friendly welcome. Comfortable yet Simple room with spacious bathroom. Excellent restaurant with superb service. All in all an excellent t stay.

Staff are friendly and provide good service. Outside the gardens are stunning and a nice pool area are stunning but the actual bedrooms are very, very small and a horrible colour scheme. Restaurant good value.

It was a pleasant hotel with a reasonable restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and especially helpful. I stopped for the night on route to a business event in Madrid.

Great ambiance, excellent food, brilliant pool, No fridge but froze our cool bag blocks!

We had a very enjoyable stay in Hotel Donibane. Staff were friendly and professional. Rooms were small but clean and comfortable. Although for those staying in height of summer, there was no air con in the rooms. Facilities were very good and clean and we were really happy with the heated pool and small studio gym. It was a walkable distance to the town at 30mins each way. Would recommend!

The rooms were simple and small but it was very clean and comfortable. The garden and restaurant were beautiful!!!

We chose this hotel because the price was OK given how expensive nearby San Sebastian properties were. The hotel is a little old on the inside and rooms VERY small. Bed comfort was ok. The restaurant was nice and had good food. Overall, though, for the price it was a bit disappointing, particularly small room size.

We were exhausted & Thank you Hotels.com we were able to go online & book @ short notice, due to a problem on our journey from Southern Spain to Home in South West France. The welcome was exceptional, massive apologies as the restaurant was closed due to the time we arrived. Which was not a problem to us, as we just wanted to shower change & relax. The free bottles of water in the room were great, I went down to reception / bar & asked If I could buy some cold drinking water, nice gentleman said u have bottled water in your room, I said yes but its warm. 2 cold bottles given, no charge. Early start to return home, Great buffet breakfast from 7h, excellent, lovely staff, great room, great parking. Thank you Hotels.com & Hotel Donibane. We will be back

Stayed overnight enroute to Spain.Ideal location for us as just off the motorway.We really like to pick properties with parking facilities and this hotel ticked all the boxes.Friendly staff, both reception and dining. Room clean and very comfortable and of a reasonable size.Despite the negative reviews regarding the food at this hotel we found our dining experience to be very good,with well prepared and presented food at a very reasonable price for France.We ate from the a la carte menu,starter and main plus drinks for around 70 euros,one could eat at a lower price when choosing the plate of the day menu.All in all for us a perfect stay.

I stayed here with friends for one night at the start of a trip across the Pyrenees. The hotel was very comfortable, the restaurant was nice and the staff were very helpful. The pool was also a very nice touch!

Whilst travelling we stayed overnight at this hotel. Very quick and professional check-in room was satisfactory and the beds were very comfortable. The bar & restaurant were very good and sitting in the lovely garden was a pleasure. A very good and pleasant overnight stop and we would certainly use this hotel again.

Have stayed in this hotel many times. very easy to find as just off exit for St Jean de Luz North. Very comfortable and excellent staff. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Restaurant is very good but limited menu. Highly recommend.

I booked this hotel as an overnight stop between France and the Santander ferry. It was ideal - just a couple of minutes off the motorway, and 20-30 minutes to walk into St Jean, depending on whether you follow the busy road or take the scenic route along the coastal walkway. Excellent restaurant, and very nice grounds. Wifi worked well. Some people call the rooms 'basic', and they aren't over elaborate, but I certainly had everything I needed. I'd definitely stay here again if wanting an overnight stop on this coast.

We have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions. Everytime we go back they have made improvements to the hotel. It is in a good location, very easy to find, staff are excellent, restaurant is very good. The rooms are a little small but the rest of the package more than compensates.We will go back to this hotel again and again.

Just off main road, ideal as an overnight stop. Room O.K. small but functional.
