We loved our stay at the Clarion Hotel Trondheim! It sits right on the harbor and was conveniently located near the Trondheim Central Station. Pros: - Trondheim is a very walkable city and the Clarion gave easy access to the downtown area through a few different routes. - It was less than a 10 minute walk (with 3 rolling bags) from the Central Station and then about a 10 minute walk to the Hurtigruten port. - Comfortable rooms: bed, refrigerator, air conditioning, and a little window that opened. - The breakfast buffet was the best that we experienced in all our hotel stays. It was pretty amazing. - Love, love, love that in all the hotels we stayed in in Norway we needed to put one of our key cards into a slot in our room to activate the electricity. Cons: None..... It was a great place to stay.

Our stay at the Clarion Hotel Trondheim was exceptional from the moment we arrived, thanks in large part to Sofia at the front desk. She was welcoming, efficient, and genuinely committed to making our visit smooth and enjoyable. When our TV remote stopped working, she didn’t just send someone—she personally brought fresh batteries to our room with a smile. That level of attentiveness is rare, and it set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel itself is modern, spotless, and perfectly located, but it’s the staff—especially Sofia—who elevate the experience. We also enjoyed an excellent supper at the hotel restaurant, which exceeded our expectations in both quality and service. The dishes were beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and served promptly despite a busy dining room. It’s clear the kitchen and service teams take real pride in what they do. Between the outstanding meal and the thoughtful hospitality throughout the hotel, the Clarion delivered a stay that felt both comfortable and memorable. We would happily return and highly recommend it to others.

Room 605. Window latch was broken. Could not open for fresh air, thus room was slightly too warm for our comfort.

We ended up here when our original hotel was closed due to strike action. The only rooms left were standard rooms. We found the room to be old and ugly dark brown with peeling vinyl fabric on the headboard. The lighting was dim. The shower design meant the whole bathroom floor got wet. The tv was old with limited channels and no streaming. We were pleased to have a bed for two nights but our original booking at the Radisson Blu would have had a river view and a bigger room with better interior design. And for less money. This hotel was very large and seemed to be focussed on holding conferences for large groups. The plus for us was the hotel was been the ferry port and the train station which meant a short walk from and too with our luggage.

Hotel employees were striking when we arrived but the hotel was still well run. The breakfast buffet was still excellent and a to-go breakfast was packed for us the day we left on an early train.

Staff very nice, rooms with good amenities, breakfast is VERY good, also the bar at the top floor is top notch.

We had the misfortune of staying during a hotel and restaurant worker strike, so they were short-staffed and some things suffered. We had only one duvet on our bed to share between the two of us. Ice machine on our floor was either empty or didn’t work, the hairdryer would only work for a minute before it overheated, the early bird breakfast wasn’t served. The restaurant was closed. The staff that was there were doing their best, the hotel and our room were nice and clean. Located conveniently to the train and bus station.

There was a hair on my pillow when I arrived. There were no tissues and when I tried to check in they told me to wait…. While others after me were able to check in right away.

The breakfast was good, the hotel is not in the city centre and the swim palace is not part of the hotel, maybe I read the info about the hotel in a wrong way, but for me it’s a typical conference hotel with small rooms.

The room was good size and clean. Really nice lobby and friendly staff. The restaurant food was lovely.
