We had a very pleasant stay in Moondance hotel. The hotel workers are super friendly and helpful. The hotel is seated in the most scenic place in Yangshuo. The building and the environment combines the beauty of the traditional Chinese architectures and the luxurious comfort of a modern hotel. It is quiet and beautiful and comfortable. Their food is very delicious. We will not hesitate to book the same hotel if we travel here again.

The hotel was professionally decorated. Really nice taste. Staff was friendly. Food at hotel was pretty good and prices were fair. The deal killer for me was about half the time the water ran cold for the shower. This made an otherwise nice place uncomfortable.

Lovely relaxed hotel. Very friendly staff and great quiet location. Roland the owner was very helpful as were all the staff. The only negative point was that the evening meal that we had at the hotel was a bit average and the meat was a little tough. Breakfats were good however and drinks reasonably priced.

Nice quiet hotel about 3 miles from town. Really large quite rooms. Amazingly beautiful area around hotel. Good breakfast. Staff spoke better English than any of the hotels we stayed at in China. We cannot say enough good things about the hotel and staff. They helped us arrange a river cruise, show tickets, and taxi to Guilin. All were done to our satisfaction and a more than fair price.

Perfect place for immersing yourself in Yangshuo's natural scenery, avoiding the tour-bus crowds and keeping logistics/planning to a minimum. Ryan (especially) and the moondance staff were super friendly/knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located near Moon hill, mud caves and a good starting/ending point for the Yulong River cruises/biking. I'm sure there was more around to do, but that was all we had time to do. Also to note, food options nearby seemed relatively limited, but this was totally made up for by the hotel's kitchen constantly pumping out delicious Yangshuo favorites.

Everybody at the hotel was very nice and really tried to help and make the stay as nice as possible. My only issue was what we got for the price. Our "unforgettable" room was priced at 980 RMB per night. Granted it was a 2 bedroom suite but there was still only 1 bathroom and the room probably was at best a 3 star room. Overall it was nice, but not worth the money. Our bathroom had a very large spider that the staff was unable to actually get rid of as it went into a pipe. I was somewhat nervous the rest of the stay that it would come back out! The food was ok and overpriced as well. Location is out of the way and 15 minutes to downtown. Pool is not very well maintained as lots of cobwebs around it, but my kids didn't care. They did enjoy it after hot days outside.

2 Adults and 2 teenagers spent a very pleasant week here in August enjoying cycling through the karst countryside. Staff especially the manager (Ryan) are particularly helpful. Pool is small but very welcome, rooms are comfortable and menu is adequate. Would recommend.

This is a nice hotel right outside of the city. It is quiet and they have a nice pool. There are bikes that you can use free of charge.

Excellent small hotel. Great helpful staff with good English & if they can't understand you they quickly find someone that can. Yes there was mould on bathroom ceiling but did I mind - no. This was a well priced hotel with a nice relaxing atmosphere in a humid environment. I would recommend it to people wanting to get away from it all. Good food at hotel didn't miss being in town at all.

Away from the crowds, it's a serene get-away place, albeit might be difficult to get to. The country inn is tastefully done with much attention to detail. The surrounding is heavenly, peaceful and absolutely beautiful! The restaurant is decent, with both Chinese and western cuisine for guests from domestic and international. Service reflects the well-intention and hard trying of the staff team, though the culture and service sense is behind. Giving the time and persistence, there is no question that it'll become a very popular vacation destination. A few tips: 1) keep the phone number of the hotel handy when you first try to find the place. 2) ask for a room on the 3rd floor if you are a light sleeper. The floor is thin, people above you might cause sleepless night.

The hotel receptionists were very nice and friendly, really a good resort place. The rooms and the blankets were very damp and cold, it took a long time (about 10 min) to get warm water for shower. No rack for clothes until you asked for it. I was supposed not to wear shoes on the wooden floor but it seemed that the service lady did not care.

Be sure to get the hotel to arrange a transfer, it's cheaper than getting a taxi from the airport and ensures they'll take the highway direct (approx 1.2 hours) and includes the road toll charges. I only had 1.5 days here by the time we flew in and out early the last day, but would have liked at least 3 - 7 days so you can do activities also enjoy relaxing at the hotel in the pool. Activities: Hotel has free bikes, so definitely ride into the town it's really lovely even in the heat and the roads are pretty flat so you're not having to ride back uphill. Light show was amazing - take your rain jacket/umbrella in case it rains as you'll get soaked if it rains, as it's an outdoor theatre. Bamboo raft ride, the mountains/hills are amazing but once you've seen some you don't need a two hour ride (which is on a plastic raft not bamboo by the way), I think 1 hour would be fine. And give you more time to do another activity. Get a massage! You only need to give the, 1/2 heads up for it and well worth the money.

This is a delightful hotel. The facilities are comfortable and adequate. The best feature is the staff, all of whom are friendly and helpful beyond compare, from the owner on down the line. They are also fun in a good way. The only fly in the ointment is that the hotel is distant from the town, but the staff readily arranges transportation to anywhere, and taxis are inexpensive.

My friend and I so enjoyed our recent stay at Moondance. The location was incredible - just a few minutes outside of Yangshuo, right by Goldwater Caves and Moonrock, and with an incredible backdrop of river and mountains. The hotel is more like a guesthouse, which is how I like to travel, so it was perfect. Staff was amazing, spoke great English, and took care of us well. I didn't give full marks for condition/maintenance only because the hotel was under construction while we were there, but it should be done within a month or so. Still worth a stay, even with the hammering!

We stayed 3 nights at Moondance Hotel. I was able to book one room for our stay, but needed another. I contacted the hotel and they offered a more expensive room but offered us free breakfast. The strawberry fields room was big enough for 4 persons (we were 4), but we were not informed of this. We could've cancelled the standard room and stayed in the strawberry fields room if we had wanted to. Anyhow, the rooms were spacious and relatively well-maintained. However, when we returned to the hotel on our second day, we found our rooms as they were when we left them. Nobody cleaned up. Being tired and dying to go to bed, we just ended up asking for new towels and bottles of water. The next 2 days, though, the staff cleaned up. The food was okay, simple but tasty. The staff tried their best to help us plan our activities. Special mention of thanks to Sam, who has truly been helpful.

The hotel is far away from the touristy West Street and located behind the Moon Hill. The view surrounding it and from each room is wonderful. Our room is spacious and pleasant, just like what is described in the website. However, their service is sporadic, depending on which staff member you happen to encounter. In other words, ther service crew lack professional training or are poorly managed. Sam, their front desk guy, appears to be the most friendly person among the entire crew. The worst part of the hotel is their dining service, especially for a hotel located away from the town. My suggestion for other guests is "don't count on the hotel kitchen and solve your dining needs elsewhere". In addition, the pool is full of green algae and the fish pond has no fish.
