Excellent hostel - fantastic facilities throughout with the kitchen, pool, bar, laundry etc, the place is well maintained and my private room was kept incredibly clean throughout my one-week stay. Belonging Beach is literally on the doorstep, and there's a great cafe/restaurant right next door. They also run hourly free shuttle services to/from the town centre which is super convenient. Highly recommend!

The distance to the beach was great, and the food and drinks in the bar next door was fantastic. Very convenient and appreciate that the bar closes at 10pm to allow people to sleep

Clean and cosy. The bathrooms look quite new, and that may also be because they are cleaned daily. A bit of a walk from the centre of town, but the hourly shuttle buses to and from make things much easier. The beach directly opposite is beautiful. If you're driving to Byron and have a car, staying here is very beneficial, as there is plenty of on-premises parking as well as street parking; where as in town would be more difficult or costly due to metered parking.

Stayed 4 nights and the Private Rooms were great. Very clean and the staff were always attentive. Private room came with aircon and a basin etc, shared bathrooms were ok but the lights were out for the last 2 days I was there. Nice area of Byron Bay and Belongil Beach is literally across the road. Treehouse cafe is next door and this place was my go to coffee stop, great tunes too. Free shuttle bus is very handy to get into town, parking in Byron Bay is a nightmare and a rip off so the bus was great to have. Staff forgot to do my room on one of the mornings but besides this the hotel is very good. *Note: This is a very young hostel and the backpapers I found were very young. If you are looking for an older group of people to stay with then this might not be the place. I had a private room which was ok but if I was to have stayed in a dorm I would have felt out of place.

Overall great service, amenities and location. One important critique is to ensure all towels and bed sheets are not stained. It does not give confidence as a customer that they are clean.

My partner and I spent 4 days after the Christmas holidays in this place in a private room, and we really loved our stay here! As soon as we arrived, the staff welcomed us in a very friendly manner, the check-in took no more than 2min, but they spent around 10min explaining to us all the activities we could do in the area. The hostel runs a free shuttle-bus that will take you to town every hour, or you can decide to do a 20-min walk on the beach which you will not regret (we actually walked every time, as it is a really enjoyable walk, and Belongil is a pet-friendly beach, so you can always play with the dogs who go there for a quick swim). Christina and Sam were very friendly, they offered us to take a couple of paddle boards to the beach for free (3 hour hire or so, but it was totally worth it). There is a restaurant/bar right next to the hostel called Treehouse on Belongil, they offer good pizzas, the place is nicely decorated and play some nice tunes, with a good party-vibe; it's an excellent option if you want to avoid going back to town for dinner on one night. The room itself had pretty much everything a regular hotel will offer, a nicely decorated room, good A/C, clean bathroom/toilets and comfy beds. Will definitely come back to this place in the future and recommend it to anyone who comes to Byron Bay.

My stay was very enjoyable with plenty of advise and help with requests. The place was kept very clean especially the amenities being cleaned three times a day. The free bus service to and from the town was well organised and came in very handy. Over all a well run place.

Booked a double room, but the hotel changed it to a twin room hoping I wouldn’t notice. Kitchen needs improving.

Wake Up! is a really good hostel chain. I also stayed at their location in Sydney and this one is very well run as well. They have events such as free wine and cheese night. I had a private room which was nice because it had a sink in the room. The location is a little far from the town center, but they have shuttles running back and forth all day long. Overall, I'd recommend the place.

There were chairs right outside our room which the staff and others used before 8 to video chat with people which was super annoying. One night because we were on the way to the kitchen a girl tried to climb through our window, I don’t see this as a hostel issue just a strange experience. The bike and surfboards being free hire was awesome! Their pancake breakfast is super slow, they need a flat top grill or to use the bbqs with a flat grill on them for it. It was too slow and stopped all other kitchen traffic. More cold storage would be ideal too. This hostel is giant for having only one kitchen.

Stayed in a private room and overall disappointed given the amount we paid for the stay. Pros: beautifully decorated common areas. Regular free shuttles into Byron. Free bike hire. Nice laid back atmosphere in the hostel. Cons: Really expensive! Shared bathrooms were pretty dirty - blocked toilets, loo roll all over the shower cubicles etc. Ants everywhere in our room! Tried to go to reception to ask for some bug spray but no one was there for over 20 mins so we just left it (that was in the late evening). Overall for the price (For a private double room) i’d go somewhere else in Byron.

Wake Up Byron has to be 1 of the best hostels I've stayed at anywhere in the world! The staff go out Of Their way to make everyone feel comfortable and are probably the most helpful I've come across special mention to Jonny (driving the bus and a Top DJ!) Caroline at reception and the general manager (forgot his name sorry!) Who were lovely :) beside the amazing staff the facilities, events and location of the hostel are top notch. To summarise you have to stay here it's the best
