Great hotel, great staff and pool area. The bartenders are friendly and everyone is helpful even with my poor Portuguese.

Os pontos positivos são: academia, piscina e localização. Café da manhã bom para regular. A melhorar estão: quarto (nossa porta do banheiro não fechava), mesa de pebolim (ta enferrujada) e a sauna (precisa de uma renovada e melhor sinalização).

Good location I appreciated the free bottles of water that were supplied daily The kitchen staff were very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were indifferent The gym could benefit from daily cleaning. In my room the bathroom needed renovating . The shower knobs fell off regularly and the wood on the bathroom door had become bumpy from what I assume was water damage. They painted over it rather than do better repairs The building is cracking in places. I could see the cracks and cement chips on the window sill in my assigned room.

Good location. A bit annoying that there is a construction site in front of the building the other side of the road that it will reduce the nice seaview.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn other travelers. Hotel Portobello is advertised as a 4-star property, but based on my experience, it felt closer to a 1-star hotel. The facilities are outdated and in serious need of renovation. The rooms and common areas look worn down and poorly maintained, nothing like the photos shown online. The overall condition of the property does not reflect a 4-star standard in any way. For the very high price we paid, we expected comfort, quality, and a well-maintained environment — instead, we were extremely disappointed. The value for money is simply not there. This hotel is significantly overpriced for what it offers. A 4-star rating suggests a certain level of quality, service, and upkeep, and unfortunately, this property does not deliver that experience. The only positive part of our stay was the housekeeping service. The maid did a good job keeping our room clean and making the bed, and we truly appreciated her effort. However, that was the only highlight. Overall, this was not a 4-star experience, and I would not recommend it at the price they charge. Travelers should carefully manage their expectations before booking.

Amazing staff. Great location. The pool bar/restaurant has a great vibe. Love the breakfast Beds are small and need to upgrade to fitted sheets. We woke in a bare mattress. Ownership need to improve the rooms.

Nice to stay in Salvador

The hotel was clean if a little tired. The staff were great. All very friendly and welcoming, we enjoyed an evening at the pool bar which was lively. Salvador is a great place and this hotel provides a Great base to explore it. Only a short walk to the beach or a stroll to the light house or a quick taxi in to town. PS if your a bit on the large size like myself it’s a bit of a squeeze getting through the shower door.

Kudos to the staff who went out the way to assist me as my Portuguese was limited. I can’t say enough great things about them!!!
