This place was awesome. I was looking to chill out and do nothing other then sip on drinks, eat delicious home cooked meals and surf all day…. and I got exactly that! It’s exactly what I needed after months of traveling solo. The personal cabins on the waterfront were absolutely picture perfect. The islands were easy to navigate to and from. Never ran into any issues and the staff were always around to help. It’s a good fun environment, the best surfing and super affordable!! Definitely will return many more times. Thank you!

Pros: Food was good! They were kind enough to accommodate my dietary needs. We really enjoyed the snorkeling. Pool was clean. Fans really cooled off the room; lack of A/C was not an issue. Cons: Organizing boat trips for the off-island activities was a bit more challenging than I thought, and punctuality was an issue. We learned that the schedule is catered more to the needs of surfers. Sometimes I felt like I was bothering the staff members when I asked questions. But overall, our week at Funky Fish was super fun. It's not fancy, but we were totally comfortable.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful 2 night stay at funky fish in February. The staff were great and the location was beautiful. Very relaxing and delicious food. I also loved the live music they sung at dinner time - such a treat

Was overcharged for a number of items on my bill, including $99 surf trips that were never taken, and a bar tab twice what was consumed. Poor communication with manager who organised boats to surf that never came. Food was very unhealthy. Burning a big bonfire of plastic on the last night, toxic fumes all night. All my clothes still smelt like smoke even after washing them when I got home. Smelt like rotting fish in bins by pool, smelt like a dead animal service pool deck. Manager promised me he’d take money off my bill as I left one day early, he never did and when I emailed later, totally denied ever offering. Still waiting for refund for being over charged for surf trips on boat never taken.

If you’re looking to disconnect from the stress of modern society, this is the place. The staff were amazing and accommodating and the location is beautiful. I will definitely be back.

the staff tried to collect 25 per person each way from me for the transfer from one boat to the resort after I had already paid. I refused to pay. They didn't ask again.

We had a great time staying at the funky fish! Accommodation worked really well for our group of young students. We also really enjoyed the food, and the drinks selection was great too! There were some really fun activities on offer, and I would definitely encourage taking advantage of these- we really enjoyed going to Cloud 9 and having a day trip to Musket Cove!

The property is in bad shape, swimming pool was green and disgusting nobody could swim in it. Shower was rusting with holes in floor and when you turned the shower on the shower head comes off just about hit me in the eye Definitely not like it was advertised, only one meal option

Spent 4 days at Funky Fish. We were disappointed in our stay & by day 4 we were keen to get back to the mainland. After comparing our stay with their website it seems the resort is falsely advertised. When booking we noticed it included a full board, the website mentioned they would be serving breakfast, morning tea, 2 course lunch, afternoon tea & 3 course dinner which included a menu of different items with burgers, curries, seafood options & many more but on arrival we were told we were being served the breakfast, lunch & dinner with no menu presented. For the first three lunches we were served chicken, rice & lettuce & when asking for a vegetarian option the kitchen were unable to provide so if you’re someone with dietary requirements or loves a variety in meals then the Funky Fish is not the place for you. We noticed that other guests would transfer to other resorts to buy their meals. From their lack in hygiene my partner and I both left Funky Fish with frequent visits to the toilet for days following our departure. The pillowcases, bedsheets & towels were all stained. We often found bugs within the bed & geckos on the walls despite keeping doors & shutters closed. We had cockroaches in the bathroom however the shower is open air so it was expected we’d see critters around the shower. They have a great swimming pool, great access to snorkelling, good hiking & staff were friendly. The stay was a let down & upon our return to Fiji we will be avoiding Funky fish.

My partner and I came here recently on a surf trip and absolutely LOVED it. We were warmly welcomed and recognized when we came back a week later. Loved the huts right on the water, the delicious homecooked meals, and the surf we could access via boat with ease. Super relaxing vibe, good price and community feel. Coming back to Funky in November.

It is a nice happy spot. Not pretentious and where many nice and easy going people gather. Malolo is also a beautiful island and from the property you can reach Mt Silo and have a stunning view. However, the food quality should be improved, including with some more local products/cuisine, and costs should be made clear and transparent, such as the 25FJD per person asked for a 1 minute boat ride from the Ferry to the resort.

Excellent staff! Great area for diving. Beach is not swimmable, but loved walking it when the surf was out. Plenty of food but would have liked more options. Too much rice and fries. Loved the bure’s. Not much to do.

Do not stay here! Firstly the property weren’t amenable in getting us to the hostel, they were aware we were on the south sea ferry and instead of getting us on their boat they informed us to go to Malolo island resort, we then waited an hour for them to come on their boat which never turned up so we had to pay the island resort to take us 10 minutes around the corner on their boat. The manager then made out that it was a funny accident and didn’t acknowledge we’d been waiting an hour knowing we were stranded as his guests. The beach bungalow was disgusting, the bathroom and shower facilties were actually better than the room (that’s saying something). There was lizards and mosquitoes in the room all night, we are aware we were staying on a small island however the next island we moved to (early I must add) so we could get away from Funky fish had no mosquitoes to be seen in the room and they provided all appropriate nets etc and curtains in the room. We have been travelling round Asia and never been bitten so badly over one night in Funky fish’s beach bungalow (we have stayed in similar beach bungalows before). The generator was right behind us so also very noisy. Food was standard, not bad for the price but didn’t help the experience. No paddle boards to use as all the paddles were broken, there was only 1 kayak with 1 ore as the other was broken. No snorkelling equipment to use. The whole place needs a lot of TLC and renovations. We left early and as quickly as we could!

Great place to stay in bure with sea view, lovely crystal clear water for swimming. Lovely morning and evening views. Very helpful and friendly staff. Walking distance to six senses beach resort, which is a great add-on. Cheap boat available to visit Musket cove and plantation resorts. Cheapest of most of the other resorts. The beach is tidal, so you won’t be able to swim there all the time, but just over the little hill and six senses beach resort offers all tide swimming and facilities available for visitors. I would really love to go there again.

The Funky Fish was amazing! The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to assist guests. The photos online do not capture the beauty of the place—it’s even better in person. For its price, the Funky Fish is well worth the value, without a doubt. However, getting from the resort to other islands or activities can be somewhat challenging and expensive. The island itself offers limited activities, and the cost of boat transportation can accumulate quickly, each boat trip costing at least $50 FJD. It's something to keep in mind for budgeting purposes. For vegetarians, dining options can be a bit of a challenge. The kitchen staff does their best to accommodate dietary needs, but options are rather limited. The food is generally good, but vegetarians might find the options difficult. Despite these considerations, I would definitely return to the Funky Fish for another visit. Its an incredible place to stay!

Great: staff, pool/deck/eating area, beds, rooms simple, but clean. Quiet and restful. Nice water and not a bad place to visit a few other islands from on day trips.
