Good location. Comfortable. Limited parking but there are free public car parks nearby. They don’t serve food but there are lots of pubs and restaurants in town.

For the money the room was clean and comfortable, good facilities, nice bathroom with fresh towels and toiletries provided, good stick of tea and coffee.

2 night stopover with 2 rooms for a work trip. On the whole, great value for money given the area. Rooms (no.12 for me) very rustic but spacious, warm and clean. The pub's kitchen was closed for an upgrade so we had breakfast in the mill cafe almost opposite and ate in the town in the evening. The pub's a sports pub and has all the main events on which is nice.

I had high hopes from other reviews left but this place really needs to get a new cleaner. It was also looking a bit dated which didn’t help when also not clean. The staff did what they could when also trying to run the bar but certainly wouldn’t stay again.

Clean and conveniently located. Staff was friendly. Downside is that you can’t control the heating in your room. It is only on for certain hours and its an old building and it takes a while to heat up.

I had three problems. First, upon leaving I found a large black bug in my bed. Oh my God. Second, I ordered a Stella at the bar and it was sour and tasted bad from dirty taps. When I asked for another beer, I caught a bunch of attitude from the bartender and got reprimanded for asking! Third, like a lot of historic hotels, there is NO heat or air conditioning in the room so good luck with that! From now on I will stay at the Premiere Inn down the street. They are clean with plenty of air con and heating and elevators. I am done with historic old dirty hotels in England.

Noisy room due to proximity of road. Tiny bathroom Room lacked any ventilation other than the front window, which you couldn't open because of the road. Parking is nonexistent at hotel. Staff take up the decent slots available out of 3 /4 parking spaces.

Positives: A friendly reception. A comfortable bed. An adequate shower. Staff very accommodating to us finding a safe place to lock our bikes. A window which could be opened. No food was offered but a cafe across the road opened at 8am for breakfast. Less positive: Although our room was fine the decor in the corridor and the door to get in were pretty grotty. This is a pub and although it was quiet on a Tuesday night I imagine it could be noisy at the weekend.

If you like old and quirky then this place is ideal! Yes it’s a little tired and could do with a little tlc in places but the bed was comfortable (which for me is a huge plus). It’s in a very convenient location for walking around town. Plenty of cafes etc nearby as well as Sainsbury’s and Co-Op.
