Friendly helpful staff. The accomodation is comfortable and very clean. Situated at the heart of El Puerto de Santa Maria within easy reach of all sites of interest, shops, bars and restaurants. The Chaikana has been a great find, so much so that we returned for a second stay.

The property was well located being only a 5 minute walk from free outdoor parking by the river or underground pay parking. We arrived about 2 hours early and were checked straight in as the room was available. Staff very helpful and amenable, they put my ice pack in their freezer. Room quite basic but clean and comfortable and great value. We found the hotel to be quiet but it was not full. Ferry to Cadiz is only about 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the town itself was well worth the visit.

Bien ubicado, pero los demás huespedes gritaban y no dejaban dormir y el staff no los callaba. El staff pesado.

The receptionist was nice. The beds were uncomfortable and the Wifi did not work or was just very weak.

It was good, but it was so unclean. I could find hair of other people in the floor so easily.

Good value hostal in a good location, comfortable rooms, it’s best to park first rather than try to find the place in a car.

Overall, a very good experience! The check in and check out process were very easy and the staff was accommodating. The room was average but not dirty and the wifi worked well. Also, the hotel was in a great location by the port for easy and cheap access to Cadiz as well.

The room had an awful cigarette smell in it when I checked in. I had to leave the windows open a day to get some of the smell out. Also the walls are really thin! Heard the couple next door doing the nasty like I was in the bed with them. Bed was comfortable though...

This is an excellent small hotel in one of the sherry ports, half an hour across the bay from Cadiz (whether by catamaran ferry, by train, or by bus). I am not sure how representative the Expedia price I paid was, but I found the spec of the hotel outstanding value for money - smart public areas and rooms, with marble floors and tasteful décor, and very clean. The hotel staff I dealt with were without exception helpful and charming, although none that I dealt with had more than very basic English. This comment also applies to staff in restaurants etc in the town of El Puerta de Santa Maria, although the tourist information office in the town was very helpful in good English. The only English language TV channel available in the room ran back-to-back old Hollywood movies, but the Wi-Fi connection was excellent. I found the hotel very quiet (including on a Saturday night). Restaurant prices in surrounding streets were much better value than in Cadiz itself. Like one other reviewer, I found the hotel initially hard to find. The very narrow street it is on turns off the main road from the station, but it is not named at the crucial junction. The map does accurately give the names of the streets immediately preceding the one you need. Overally, I would definitely stay there again.

Near to the dock where you can catch the ferry to Cadiz, and not too far from the railway station. Near to places of interest, a lovely square, local cafe's for breakfast. Very clean and was just being updated downstairs.

Room was pleasant and clean, nice & bright. Bed was ok - the mattress was kind of squishy foam on top. Only real drawback: very thin walls - could hear everything happening in next room! Still, for the price & location & general feel - it's a good choice.

Its very central to El Puerto, the staff are excellent and the rooms are left spotlessly clean by the staff every morning and topped up with soap and shower gel and there is a TV and several different lamps in the room for reading etc The only downside is there is a little bit of noise coming in from outside at the weekends due to its proximity to a club. It didn't bother me as I am quite a heavy sleeper. Breakfast is excellent quality and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Hostal is in the old part of the city, 5 min. walking distance from the cathedral and 10 min. from Castillo de San Marcos one of the Puerto Maria landmarks. You can find two streets with the few restaurants and shops nearby. This part of town is usually quiet at night without people on the streets, but you can find open restaurant at 11 p.m. as I mentioned before close to hotel. If you are arriving by car you can park free of charge in the street parallel to the river and then walk 5-10 min to the hotel or use garage (4 euro per day – receptionist will direct you). Hostal, is simple, clean and decent enough to spend night or two there. They have two types of room; cheaper with older furniture (red bed covers at the hotel photo) and renovated ones 8white decor) which are few $ more expensive. First I made booking of a cheaper one, but it was little bit too shabby for my taste (yet clean), so I change it to a renovated one and had a nice stay. Room has a new furniture, wallpapers, cabinet, bathroom.. .Everything was clean and I felt comfortable there (room is not a big, but we had enough space to open two big suitcases). Few minor things were missing: soap holder in the bathroom, chair in the room (since table is there)... Only minor negative point was yelling and singing of a drunken Spanish couple in 3 a.m. that woke us up. They were loud for one hour, so I think it would be expected from the receptionist to call the police to calm them down.

A quick nights stay we found this hotel very nice. A short walk from the castle and not too far from the beach. The river is close by and so are many restaurants
