The Ghost Town and train exhibitions adjacent to the hotel were a nice way to spend time. The location on the lake was stunning.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean and bed was one of the most comfortable, lots of things to do (ping pong, pool, pool/hot tub) wish we had more time. Will stay again. Only thing we weren’t keen on was the coffee. The ghost town is really neat.

Beautiful location. Decent food at the restaurant that has limited hours. Whole place needs a massive renovation. Highway noise was extremely noticeable. Pool was warmer than the hot tub. Ghost town is awesome.

You pay for the view. Hotel is old. Was there 40 years ago looks the same. Poor bed. Little amenities tv did or work. Little internet . The entrance and exit of the hotel not very good directly off highway 1 , rainy day when we went parking is horrible. Had to walk aways only a handful of parking by the entrance.

We were travelling with our two small dogs and requested a dog friendly room. We were told dogs were not allowed on most of the grounds but there was a “dog beach” which sounded wonderful. The “beach” was a 3 meter strip of mud, no signage and only accessible through overgrown bush. Very disappointing. The room itself smelled strongly of dog urine, the chair in the corner was soaked in it, the carpet smelled as if 12 dogs had peed on it, the screen was completely torn and we could not open the glass door in case our dogs decided to go through the wrecked screen (with no air conditioning and smell, an open door would have been nice) The kicker? There was a gross sock in the lighting fixture about the bed. A sock. In the lighting fixture. Hanging out like it’s no big deal. Yuck. The property looks awesome, from the highway. That’s where I’ll be viewing it from in the future.

Our 9th year in a row. One of our favourite vacation spots. Great amenities. You can check in and stay for the whole weekend.

We both woke up early, like 5:00 a.m. and left by 6:00 a.m. The bed was very hard and an old mattress with little squishy pillows. We had loud people out in the hallway during the night, leaving a receptacle full of beer cans. The chateau lets smokers sit on benches right outside the exit doors to smoke. All the positive reviews we read are overrated. We would not stay here again. The ghost town was primarily a collection of items and buildings relocated from other places, including railroad and mining sites. It reassembled—more of a museum of antique artifacts, but interesting. The restaurant's food was also not great; my soup was cold, and the sweet potato fries were okay but not cooked long enough, being a bit soft. The coffee they put in the rooms is also substandard. This is an old, worn, dated, and thin-walled place. The grounds were not even kept nicely, though the courtyard was ok. The lady at the desk asked how it was when we were checking out. I said "not that great" and explained why. She just looked at me, handed my receipt and said nothing as if she did not hear me or care, or was suprised and did not know what to say.
