It was on the fifth floor, but it does have an elevator. The room is small but adequate. Perfect for a short stay while in transit.

Great location. For Canadians, two Tim Hortons within a 5 minute walk. ☺️ For those able to walk a mile no problem, most sites within walking distance. The immediate neighbourhood is safe, great for walking, and loaded with places to eat, drink or grab groceries. Take advantage of the free Prado and Reina Sofia (Guernica) hours in an otherwise expensive and busy capital. Hotel was good, staff friendly/helpful; beautiful patio for chilling and planning. As a quibble, I simply don't understand shower stalls without grab bars; I don't know whether this was just my room or all of them, but it makes me nervous.

Impeccable location and experience, the staff goes above and beyond, and the terrace is the cherry on top…. Oh yea shopping galore a steps away to the Gran Via! Will definitely be back!

I plan on making Hostal America my new home away from home in Madrid. It's location is perfect, but it was how clean and neat and efficient it was that made my stay so great. I will absolutely return to the Hostal America.

The Hostel is within 10 min walk of Plaza del Sol. The check-in was easy (note - very small elevator). The room was a single room and very basic w/o a view - I assume that is standard for a hostel. The room smelled like cleaning products and had no dirt.
