Slow. Receptionist was on the phone, which was fine since sounded like another customer but he never looked up to acknowledge my presence

Very cool historic hotel set the perfect vibe for an authentic Salem experience. The room was more spacious than expected, bed was comfortable, and room was quiet. We had one of the rooms where the shower was a separate room from the rest of the bathroom, which was interesting (see photos). Shower was nice and roomy, though. We didn’t try the restaurants. We had planned to do dinner at Nathanial’s, but it was closed the night of our stay. If I return to Salem, I would stay here again.

Nice hotel, staff was friendly. Only down side was the bathroom door wouldn’t close/lock, but not a big issue given the age.

The location is great. It is walkable to everything, so the free parking is a great perk. The staff was very helpful. We asked about no fridge in the room as we needed to keep some medication cold and they sent one right up.

The hotel had its old time charm. It was clean and we enjoyed our short visit. We did visit the bar for a few drinks and some light food. We enjoyed our time.

I liked everything about the Hawthorne and I would return. I rented the smallest room and that might have been an error on my part. The shower was my only hang up. It is tiny. But, again the room was my choice. I slept well and I’d choose the Hawthorne again!

One of the best hotels in which I have ever stayed. The entire staff from check-in to check-out were friendly, attentive, and the ultimate expression of customer service. These people treated you as friends and family more than just a “customer.” We will definitely stay again!

So dreamy and such a pleasant stay. Its very walkable to just about to everything there is to do in Salem without having to go to far. If you're a good walker you wont have to uber very much. I would definitely stay here again. I got a lot of advice to stay away during Halloween time so ill see you back possibly next summer. Thank you:)

This was a fantastic place to stay! It is less than a 10 minute walk to everything you want to see in Salem. The bed was amazingly comfortable. It is a historic hotel, so the room was small and the dresser old. However, the room was quiet and very clean and it had everything we needed. Since it was in the middle of everything it was easy to go back and rest for a bit before heading back out. Very friendly staff. I would happily return!

This hotel is amazing! Beautifully setup inside and takes you back in time a little. Rooms are well kept and updated. Everything is clean and (this sounds so strange) it smells wonderful. They really take care of their spaces so well. The location is perfect. Right next to Salem Commons and across the street from all of the quirky shopping spaces. I had the best time running out at night and just walking around in circles. For anyone who is interested in the Hocus Pocus locations, the hotel is next to 2 of them! The others are so nearby and easily located! If you’re on the fence, let this be your reason to choose Hawthorne! Best hotel I’ve been to in a long time!

Staff was kind and helpful. The property is beautiful but extremely uncomfortable. We only stayed 2 nights and our backs hurt. The rooms are tiny and so are the beds.

I recently stayed at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem for a paranormal investigation for my YouTube channel @ThisGhostStory — and what an experience! The hotel’s atmosphere is rich with history, and it absolutely lived up to its haunted reputation. During our investigation, we made contact with three spirits: Rose, George, and their son, Francis. The activity we experienced throughout the night was compelling, and I’m eager to review and edit the footage to see everything we captured. The Hawthorne isn’t just haunted—it’s also beautiful. The hotel is elegant, timeless, and full of character. While we were there, a wedding rehearsal dinner was taking place, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting. The refined charm and historic ambiance make it an ideal venue for a romantic event. If you're into the paranormal or simply love staying in historically rich, stylish locations, the Hawthorne is a must. The staff was welcoming, the location is perfect for exploring Salem, and the energy in the hotel is definitely something special. This was more than just a stay—it was an unforgettable encounter with the unknown. I can’t wait to share the full video soon! @thisghoststory

Great location right next to Salem Commons and within walking distance to all the local attractions. We appreciated the free coffee in the lobby. Having free parking is solid. Room was on the small side and the pillows are thin. All in all enjoyed our overnight trip here.
