This is a beautiful historic hotel but lacks some amenities found in newer hotels. For example, there’s no elevator or swimming pool. Of these items aren’t critical to you then I’d recommend staying at this charming hotel. My only recommendation would be to add filtered water on the ground floor or first floor for guests. The staff were very helpful and accommodating!

This vintage hotel is gorgeous, preserving the elegance of the early 20th century. It is very central and convenient to many restaurants and the central Zokalo. The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel has no elevator, room telephones, and the water is not that hot. Regardless of that, I would recommend to stay at the grand hotel.

Grand old colonial hotel, overlooking beautiful little plaza. Excellent price. In center of historic district. One block from main plaza. Helpful courteous staff. Clean, well-appointed rooms. No elevators and I don’t believe there are any rooms on the ground floor so one must be able to climb stairs. No restaurant but tons of great restaurants nearby. Absolutely fabulous stay!

This is a grand hotel! It's the oldest hotel in Merida and is in the perfect location to many amenities - restaurants, museums, churches which are all within walking distance. The hotel has charm, but perhaps needs a little TLC. The only downside was the music in the adjacent park late at night.

Staff were great. Room was old but clean. The hotel needs to have water jugs on each floor.

I chose Gran Hotel de Merida because I wanted the experience of old world opulence. The hotel is a beautiful building built in 1901, and is full of antiques, some are available for purchase. The room was lovely, but like I said, old world opulence; not for the nit-picky, the rooms show their age, but that's part of the charm There was a small fridge in my room, as well as a TV, air conditioning and ceiling fans. If you like all the frills in your room (coffee maker, lots of toiletries, etc.) this is not the place, room had soap, shampoo, 2 glasses and TP only. I have no idea if there are ice machines, I had no need. No issues with water, showers were hot with decent water pressure. Staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. The location in central (Centro), great access to many sites within walking distance. I never felt unsafe and did plenty of solo exploration at all times of day. Some references on the internet refer to a spa and a pool, but I didn't see evidence of either. All that said, I'd be open to staying at Gran Hotel de Merida again.

Great location and history. It’s close to main plaza and tons of shops and restaurants. It’s beautiful but needs some updating. Lighting could be better. The bathroom is oddly configured and water pressure was not very good. Little touches of free water , coffee in room or in common areas would have been nice. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The staff was super great! Kind, helpful, considerate, professional. Our room was spotless. We had an inside room which I recommend if you are sensitive to loud music from surrounding venues. Our inner room was very quiet. Lovely! The AC was excellent. The bath products were very nice.
