The village is delightful and has a fascinating history well worth the visit. The hotel is full of character but is in need of a good deal of work if it is going to cater for tourists otherwise it will fall into disrepair and not be worth considering. Carpets need replacing, rooms need a thorough cleaning, woodwork, like doors and windows, are in need of attention & holes in the walls should be addressed. The lovely lady serving breakfast was welcoming and friendly and breakfast provided a great start to the day. We also had dinner there one night and the servings were generous. I understand that with old buildings it costs a lot to maintain but if left as it is I would not be returning to stay.

This is my go to place when I’m in the area with work. It’s more homely than national brands, and the staff make the place! The food is good and the great beer on tap, as well as a selection of other tasty drinks. They don’t have air-con and the floorboards can squeak, the parking can be a challenge, especially when busy. Depending on what room you could hear the noise of other guests or the workings of the hotel, but they are clean. Breakfast is late for lots of places as it starts at 7.30, which is fine if you’re local and don’t have to be in early. The breakfast menu items have changed recently & aren’t reflected on the paper version, like mini croissants and pastries. In my opinion this detracts slightly and can make it a challenge for those in a rush.

My wife and I stayed just one night at the Kings Arms and had an excellent meal and breakfast. Our room was clean and tidy and the en-suite was fine, albeit a little cramped. We had ground floor room 5 and, as is our normal custom, went to bed just before 10:00pm. We then suffered a great deal of noise outside our bedroom windows; singing, shouting and swearing, all coming from the sheltered area just a few metres away. In the end we rang the bar in an attempt to get this stopped, but it carried on until midnight! Such a shame as everything else about the inn was excellent. If you do book a room for an upstairs room at the front of the premises!

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome! The room is cozy, water is hot, food was delicious and drinks were yummy! Every breakfast was amazing! I really enjoyed Tony and Sondra’s company, from breakfast to nightcaps, Kings Arms was wonderful!

Understand that this was one of the cheaper options within the area and only stayed for a night. Friendly staff and dinner was of a good quality with plenty of options, good level of pub food. Found the room outdated, noisy and the bathroom extremely cold with a strange smell that was unpleasant. Bed was a little uncomfortable and hot, didn't get a good night's sleep unfortunately and would recommend ear plugs and an eye mask.

A lovely place to stay. The staff were very helpful throughout. We hosted a large family gathering for lunch and stayed over. We were accommodated in the evening with light food which was not normally available in the evening. Breakfast was very good. Parking is good but limited space.

Stayed for two nights in March 2026 - Room 10 Location is really nice - in the centre of a pretty village - and the pub is warm and welcoming from the offset. Pub has its own parking (about 10 spaces I think) but access is a small and winding roadway around the pub with high walls in places. We managed to get our medium sized SUV through in daylight just fine but decided to park on the road when we returned the next day in the dark. There is additional street parking dotted around. Staff were super friendly and efficient at all times. food service was fast and all meals (2x breakfast and one evening meal for us) was very tasty and of great quality. Prices were about average and certainly appropriate for the quality and service. Room was a little disappointing with a few large cobwebs in ceiling corners and a general feel that decoration is probably due. That said, we did notice that other rooms (open doors in morning while cleaners were in) looked nicer than ours so assume gradual decor improvements are underway. All in all we'd certainly stay again and would look forward to the experience.

My room had a mould issue. The bathroom extract fan has clearly not worked for a long time and the room being being quite cold, the warm moist air goes into the bedroom and condenses making the mould grow that bit better. Breakfast was amazing, dinner was fine but the piece of frozen fish that I had (fish of the day) had a peculiar freezer burn taste to it. Not bad enough to send back, but also not great

Although driving into the car park was uphill, we were able to park quite easily each day. The car park isn't large & is shared with usual patrons as well as residents so could be difficult at times but parking is possible in the street outside. Our room was small but adequate. The en suite was small unfortunately the basin cold water tap was locked & couldn't be used. We reported it in the morning but it was not rectified when we returned despite the best efforts of the staff. We were given bottled water for tea/coffee & teeth cleaning.

Slightly damp smell in the room, door would not self close and no hot water in the shower (lukewarm at best). Very, very soft bed, ridiculously small TV! Good breakfast but, although the food was good, evening meal prices were rather expensive. Good service from a young team of staff

Generally OK with good service and helpful staff but rather dated and worn - needs redecorating throughout and new matresses/pillows on beds. Acceptable for 1 or 2 nights but not longer. Off-road car park is small and difficult to access, made more difficult by staff using the car park. Lots of on street parking available in principle but mostly taken, especially at weekends.
