We’ve been staying at Grand hotel many times. Staff are great and the rooms are big! They have cut down on breakfast quality but I guess everyone needs to cut costs. Overall a great hotel!

Pros: 1. Water filling station 2. Spacious suite Cons (a few mentioned - sooo many): 1. No extra blankets in the room. There was one extra pillow. That is all that was made available. 2. One set of towels (two people should have at least two bath towels each) when checking in. 3. There is no full-length mirror in the room. The only mirror is in the bathroom, which is not useful if more than one person needs a mirror and the bathroom is occupied. 4. No microwave in the suite. Yes, you provide one when asked, but if I am paying for a suite, that should be available without asking. Apparently, there is also a rental fee for the microwave. 5. HVAC system is not working properly. The fan setting should not be tied to the temperature. Properly installed systems allow air flow via fans without any temperature changes. The fan kicks on ONLY when there is heat or cool temp deviations. Any room can feel stuffy with stagnant air so that is why the fan and temp settings are separated on a thermostat. 6a. Two-star hotels offer better breakfast options than this hotel. We had muffins, hard-boiled eggs, and croissants on the first morning, but none were available on the second morning. If you wanted something, you basically had to ask because they did not restock items automatically. Those who did not know what was available could not ask. No microwave in the breakfast area either. See Trip Advisor comments.

The air conditioner wouldn't turn off AT all, even though it displayed OFF.

This was a favorite place to stay and it's sad to watch it changing--and not for the better. Our mattress needed to be replaced as it was sagging and lumpy. We had two bath towels, one hand and one wash cloth for the two of us. Why?? The breakfast was bread to toast and cornflakes and bananas. Coffee and juice. The cuts are overdone oh we had our Maid Service sign on our door but no one came. It's still clean but stop with the cost cutting!!

We stayed at The Grand Hotel last year and enjoyed the daily continental breakfast, happy hour and free parking. We upgraded to a suite this year. It was nice and very spacious with a fireplace but the vent system was noisy and it ran 24/7. Also the continental breakfast and happy hour were disappointing. Cutbacks were evident. They didn't replenish the danishes, boiled eggs or fruit if it ran out during breakfast plus they no longer serve food (veggies, cheese, fruit, etc.) at happy hour. They have a new limited evening room service where you can purchase hot snacks but never told us the kitchen was currently out of order.

I'd give them 5 stars across the board except that according to their Yelp page it looked like they served eggs and such for breakfast like most hotel continental breakfasts do...except they only has cereal and toast and when i sae people with hot breakfasts it was because they were part of a "paid event"...did I not pay to stay here too?

Our stay was great. I saw some reviewers talking about loud AC or that "it used to be better" but for us it was clean, the AC was quiet, and it was nice to have breakfast, Happy hour and Wifi included in our stay. Yes you can see that the concrete walls around the pool show some deterioration, but otherwise the lobby, bar and our room were tastefully decorated. The room was huge, and the bathroom had both a shower and a jetted tub. Wish list items would be more outlets by the bed. We both have CPAP machines and like to have our phones charging by the bed, so we unplugged the clock and the phone. The other would be a mirror I could see without my glasses on. Luckily no fancy occasions so it didn't matter that I didn't wear makeup. I tried but had to lean over so far to see the mirror that I couldn't even do eyeliner. One reviewer mentioned no full-length mirror and yes, that would be nice and would solve the makeup mirror issue as that is what I often do in other hotels. No microwave; they are available on request for a $10 fee.

The Grand Hotel was very impressive! From the lobby to the hotel, hallway, and most importantly, the room itself; we were very satisfied with the spaciousness of the establishment. The location is fantastic in terms of nearby restaurants, cafes, etc. This will be our hotel of choice whenever we visit the Bay Area!

A quick, mumbled check-in with all the welcoming qualities of a coke machine. Experiment with eye contact and a hello. It makes a difference.

I like the proximity to many stores, market and restaurants. The property was fairly clean on the outside and parking is plentiful. I would stay here again in a bigger room the villa with 2 beds was nice if they have a bigger option ill definitely go for that.

The room was okay, however the elevator feels like a death trap, and the breakfast was just bread, cereal and juice.

I loved staying at this hotel even though it was not conveniently located for someone who relies on public transportation. My only disappointment was the man who checked me in. When I arrived, no one was at the front desk. I had to wait 10 minutes after a long day's travel. When he finally came out the bathroom, he kept saying in a stern voice, "Next time, just wait." He did not bother to apologize, just kept repeating in a rude tone "next time, just wait" as though I had any other choice. Other than this incident, this is a fine hotel with lovely spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast does not have any hot items, but is fine.
