Absolutely charming place to stay. Taxi can take you to front door. Location is perfect for visiting city. Rooms charming and clean . Breakfast simple but very nice with eggs made to your liking. Very authentic Bavarian experience. Staff speaks English and helpful . You can have your clothes washed by load here if needed.

excellent location, friendly service, comfortable room

I’m a pretty picky traveler and the stay at the Romantik Hotel Markusturm was one of the most enjoyable times I’ve ever had. We felt welcomed and appreciated as soon as we walked in. Very clean, very cool atmosphere and the breakfast and service was amazing! Front desk staff was extremely helpful. I will return to Rothenburg ob der Tauber again. I will only stay at the Romantik.

The property was very charming with lots of character and you can see why it features in so many pictures of the area. The family have kept it in keeping with it's history and it's in a very good location. Breakfast was lovely, although after a few days became a bit boring, but that is often the case. The room was nice, we had a family room for 5 with a terrace, but my Son had the trundle bed, which he found very uncomfortable. It was exceptionally warm and we had to just keep fans on all night as no air conditioning. And limited access to chilled water, there was a supply of two bottles of water in the fridge for the 3 nights, which are not replenished daily. I became unwell and asked my daughter if she could fetch a cold bottle of water, which we were charged for and wasn't cold. (The temperatures were mid to high 30 degrees). It was my birthday, so we booked a table, but then because I wasn't feeling well and not looking forward to wintry/heavy type food we needed to cancel. I didn't want to disclose that my tummy wasn't feeling right as it was quite personal and was hoping to relieve my symptoms. I felt immensely guilty and under pressure to eat, but I just couldn't and there was nothing my children would like, the lady on reception was understanding but the owner not so much. I was trying to push myself to be up and about as well (It turned out I had kidney stones). Parking charge was a bit of a surprise. It's nice but not the greatest experience.

Our stay was amazing! This was our favorite place so far in Germany! The staff made us feel at home, breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the place is so clean and beautiful! We hope to come back and stay here soon!

The property & proprietors are great. The service & staff friendly & attentive. Breakfast was good. The location is within walking distance to all attractions. My only complaint is that this property does not have air conditioning or an elevator. Our room was #130. It was the furthest from the reception (~4 separate levels) & being a high floor the room stayed at 30c/86f! That is HOT! All blinds were closed & windows kept open at night. I asked for a 2nd fan & it was immediately delivered. However, the hotel must know this room can get hot & perhaps a portable AC unit should be brought in for extreme heat...or extra bottles of water. The hotel did offer to let us change rooms for our last night but it didn’t make sense to spend time packing just to unpack & repack to leave. Other than the extreme heat- this is a well kept rustic property in a great location.
