It is in a very convenient place. The staff are very nice. We also liked the bathroom which is clean and much newer than the other part of the room.The room doesn't have air condition. It can get hot.

Great location! Room was large and clean with a big bathroom (hidden behind a panel in the wall which was cool) and excellent toiletries. There was a big TV with access to Netflix etc, coffee machine, fridge and free WiFi. The small courtyard at the front of the hotel was really cute and I wished we’d had time to enjoy it more (with a bottle of wine!). The only real negative we found was that there is either a bar next to the hotel or behind it and although it wasn’t noisy, our room was in the ground floor and there was a table of people sat outside our windows which didn’t feel very secure when we then went out as the old windows are just slid up/ down to open and close so nothing would have stopped someone getting in the room when we left. Perhaps if there was a safe in the room it would have set my mind at ease a bit.

Great hotel and staff were super friendly. Excellent location. Only issue for me as a solo female traveller was that there was no internal lock on the door so it felt unsafe and exposed. I ended up moving furniture so that there was something against the door to prevent someone using a keycard and gaining easy access.

Could do with a update now it's looking a bit tired. Mold on shower tiles Damp coming through the walls stains on the carpets and damaged bed base.

Judges Court image comes across as a bit dark, all about crime, punishment and justice. Our room (no. 7) appeared to be panelled, but was painted white, completely destroying any atmosphere. Both toilet roll holders were loose on the wall. The tap installation by the was hand basin was loose. While the window recess was cushioned, the rest of the room's furniture was a bit basic. Fine if it had been a prison cell, but this was supposed to be a judge's quarters. There was only one chair and it had no cushioning at all. Overall, the room was a bit basic and a bit tired for what it cost.

Updated bathroom was super nice.

This hotel is packed with original features but I didn't see any of the amenities it has to offer. There is no lift. And due to the age of the building, it's quite loud so either bring ear plugs or be a heavy sleeper.

Enjoyed York , disappointed in our room which was in the basement cellar (memories of Liverpool cavern club). No views at all had to have the lights on all the time we were there .. the staff were really nice and friendly.

Perfect location in the heart of York. Need to have your eyes peeled to find it down the passageway off the main road. Room, large, quiet and comfortable. Staff all lovely. Only negative was very small bathroom, smallest in the hotel apparently so not ideal for someone over 6 foot.

Friendly welcome. Room on 2nd floor up narrow windy stairs. OK for us but there’s no lift. Room clean but small and basic with damp on outside facing wall. Woodwork paint peeling. Bathroom modern, clean, well stocked. Great central location

Can't beat the location which was excellent. Room was comfortable, but was downstairs, so felt a bit like a basement room. But overall a good price for a great location.

Lovely personal hotel. Just off the high street and yet so quiet! Bed was comfy and bathroom clean. Would definitely staff again with such friendly staff.

Really nice hotel in the middle of city perfect for a city visit. Staff were really friendly and helpful and would definitely look to stay there again.

Service was incredibly friendly and warm. A lovely welcome to York! The room was in the basement so pretty dark. And while the facilities and cleanliness were good, it all looked fairly shabby.
