There was no evening food but breakfast was really excellent - the hotel is a bit tired and could do with a refit but has character

Great location, great look and appeal, affordable stay, while easy drive to most sight-seeing locations and distilleries in Speyside.

Elgin was a wonderful town with great access to Speyside area, and this property was a nice /a good stay especially due to the wonderful staff but the property is in need of some updates and walking into town for restaurants involved crossing several roads (not ideal for traveling with kids or elderly). Worth the stay.

When we booked the room on Hotels.com, we simply chose our bed size preference. There was no transparency on whether the room was in the main Mansion House or in the dated guest house ("Lodge"). When we arrived, we were immediately told (by a very hard to understand middle-Eastern man) that we were not in the main house, but were instead in the "Lodge' down the road. He tried to explain it was ,"down the road past the trees". We were carrying our luggage and he could tell we were confused. So, he eventually walked out to the parking lot with us to point where the Lodge was. We asked if we should drive there and he assured us it was "just past the cut tree". We asked if there was parking there and he said there was a little spot there. We asked if there was room for to park and he chuckled and said there is "plenty of room to park right here" (in the main parking lot by the Mansion). So, we begrudgingly carried our luggage down the road about 100 yards to the Lodge. When we arrived there, we immediately noticed there was parking for three cars so i eventually went back for the car. When we went inside, we climbed the small flight of stairs to our room and were again disappointed to find a room of mismatched garage sale furniture. The room was clean, but old, and the bed was comfortable, just disappointing. When searching the website for the hotel and Hotels.com, not surprisingly, this particular room is never photographed.

The mansion house is such a beautiful building but needs a lot of Love and attention. The room I stayed in was very dated and threadbare, although the bathroom was lovely. The restaurant was closed due to lack of staff

The stay was cool but compared to the outside the interior felt bare. Would love to talk to you about how to improve it as I design museums and historical interiors. A few key things in the common spaces would make the place much more memorable and less (in a negative way) dated. We can switch it to make it dated in the best of ways.

Had booked two rooms, they hadn't noticed and only one was available. The manager had quit and left keys with chef half an hour before we arrived, so the whole thing chaotic and the poor guy had no idea what to do. Eventually got a room, but it wasnt comfortable and place was as tired as the poor staff.

The hotel is advertised as 4 star. I am sure at its peak (a number of years ago) it was worthy of this rating. However, this is certainly not the case now. It is a shame as the building has lots of character and the lounge and other reception and social spaces are presented in a grand house manner. Our bedroom was very clean and the bed very comfortable as well as a very nice ensuite bathroom. The only issue with the room as well as the hotel is that it all seems to need brightening up and refreshed... The issue with the facilities is that there is no restaurant in the evening, no bar and virtually no staff around the hotel! However, the hotel does offer a well staffed breakfast room with plenty of options on the menu, great attentive staff and I'm guessing the owner/manager pleasantly greeting all guests in the foyer. The whole experience left us with mixed feelings as we didn’t necessarily have a bad stay and there were plenty of positives, added to some frustrating negatives.

Very disappointing stay. Looks and photos are fab. But internally hotel was empty of staff. No bar or restaurant ! Dead in evening! Hotel has had better days. Now underloved and seems to be dying. Breakfast was good with lovely staff in the morning. Was expensive, poor value as atmosphere was zero.

Big spacious rooms, furnished to building style - time has worn down the features/walls and the bathroom needed repairs but it was usable. Great night sleep and good breakfast!

Lovely staff, especially on check-in & at Breakfast. Stay here regularly when working in the area. It's a gorgeous old building but the staff make it a nice place to stay.

Beautiful old home, warm & welcoming. We stayed in off season so restaurant & bar closed but staff accommodated drinks & take away for us. Breakfast was available so ate in restaurant then checked out without any issues. Comfortable bed and spacious room & bathroom. Had a very enjoyable stay thanks to staff!
