Fantastic central location. Friendly, helpful staff and we were able to check in early. Although the room was small it was perfectly adequate for our needs. Complimentary breakfast was delicious. The bed was very comfortable as well. Highly recommended.

This was more Bed & Breakfast than hotel and was an ideal location for a one night stay in York. Easy to access from the Shambles area. I should have done more checking however as no car parking outside hotel and had to book at local car park 5 mins walk away. The hotel room was a small double and a little small for a couple. Would have been a perfect room for a single person. Breakfast was served downstairs in the Forest bar and was a great start to the day

The hotel is small, clean, on the door step to where the restaurants, cathedral is.
Yhe restaurant next door where you get your breakfast is beautiful.
Both the hotel and restaurant are rustic themed. Really recommend and will be returning.

Love york and always take a photo of the Galtres when i visit as its beautiful outside, stayed with my daughter for one night. The location is fab however extremely noisy all night but i suppose if youre wanting to be in the middle of the centre its a small price to pay.
There were a couple of stains on the decorative pillows on the bed - but apart from that the room was lovely and clean.
Breakfast - included in the room rate was okay. Staff were lovely and attentive.

This historic hotel was really lovely. We were surprised with how spacious the room was. The location is perfect- an easy walk from the train station and right in the middle of town.

Had a great stay at this lovely little hotel. Staff and breakfast were excellent . Room was good, hotel is unique and forest theme is lovely. Building is old and in need of some work doing to bring it up to scratch but this is clearly work in progress. Recommended.

Staff extremely helpful. The building is very old and therefore needs a lot of attention, there appears to have been efforts to keep it in hand.

The hotel has lots of charm and the staff are friendly and helpful, especially David the receptionist/bar man. The room I was in was above the restaurant which was a little noisy late in the evening. The bedroom was warm but the shower room was cold. Very central for everything and a good range of options for breakfast. The rooms are in need of some TLC but I would stay again despite that.

We absolutely loved our stay! The room/hotel was super cozy and conveniently located in the city centre. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. We only stayed for one night but wished we stayed longer. We will be back!

The hotel was in the centre of york, nearest parking was a 10mins walk, location was excellent, you need to go by train and then walk, breakfast was good, but could have been hotter

Arrived on time and was welcomed at reception and given the key by a very friendly lady.
The room looked nice but the bathroom needs fixing up a little. The toilet is not square to the room or the walls and sometimes the flush needed attention before it would stop. The water from the sink taps was VERY hot immediately so when it was time for a shower we were very wary of it.
The evening meal in Forest was very nice. Steak (well done) cooked to perfection and very tasty.
The bed was comfy but we were woken early by deliveries in the front street and the bin collections. After that it was hard to settle again.
Breakfast was lovely and the staff service for the evening and the morning was very good/attentive.
If we were to stay again we would ask for a room at the back of the building.
All in all, not a bad stay really.
was quite nice overall.

Appears lovingly restored. Owners have managed to keep many old features and quirkiness.
Excellent location - you can hear the Minster bells close by. Excellent breakfast
Nothing to dislike.

Excellent service from the staff, very clean. Excellent breakfast. Only downside was quite a lot of noise from the street outside our window.
