This is by no measure a 5-star property, but a well used 4-star facility. The upkeep is not really up to par, with mold in the bathroom, bathroom doors peeling severly due to water damage, stained towels etc. The breakfast is fine, but, again, not up to 4-star standards (including 5-star hotels in Portugal). The common spaces like the dining room show extensive damage due to use (and lack of maintenance?) and there's peeling paint in the hallways. However, the staff were exceedingly friendly and the price we paid in mid-May (around 150 € per night) was right for a 4-star place.

Check in was great, with a welcome glass of Port. Breakfast was perfect every morning with plenty of options and very scenic views. Room was little dated and the area itself is secluded. If you’re looking for that, than this is the spot. The highlight of the trip in Douro was the wine tour about an hour away. Beautiful area beautiful resort.

The Breakfast was very good and fresh with plenty of options. Many types of pastries, fruits alternative milks. The front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable about the Douro Valley. The rooms had incredible views of the River. Rooms were spacious but were dated,they need a refresh. Bed was comfortable though. The area was good but you definitely need a car to see the rest of the valley and vineyards.

The location is truly stunning. The view from the top floor and pool area is so spectacular. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was top quality and so much choice. Dinner was also excellent although pricy. The spa and pools were great as well. Overall the hotel is a great spot, some of the decor felt outdated and outdoors some repairs are needed. But we were very happy with our stay.

Sterile appearance, room was worn, carpet was worn and wrinkled. The pool was beautiful! Breakfast was fabulous. Roads to hotel were difficult to navigate..

Positives: Stunning views, excellent pool/area, spa. Spacious suite, vg bathroom, comfy bed. Staff - courteous, helpful and professional. Negatives: Decor - soulless/minimalistic. Restaurant/Ruby Bar - Lacking atmosphere. Food hit/miss, charcuterie boards 👌 Whole layout generally gave a sterile, isolated feeling. Would probably need a car to get the best from this location. Summary: Hotel doesn't really make the most of it's location, could do with the services of an interior designer to give it a more welcoming feeling, better ambience and create nicer seating areas and more aesthetically pleasing pool area.Could also provide, a customer service/concierge facilitating tours/activities directly from the hotel with third parties, a courtesy courier service to nearby train stations/villages. A good place to chill out after a day touring but it's difficult to get past the sterile, soulless atmosphere.

Everyting was perfect, except the gym. Some of the machines were not working properly.

A beautiful, clean hotel on the Douro Valley. Opening the balcony door in the morning, a fresh breeze greeted me, and the sound of roosters crowing in the distant mountains marked a beautiful start to the day. The room and bed were comfortable. And the breakfast was super. I'd definitely stay here again.

Outdated, bad food and not very nice. The terrace had a nice view but that was it. The hot tub area was depressing (no good view, didn’t feel much like a spa was basically a long swimming pool with jets) the deckchairs were uncomfortable. The long white dim corridors felt a little sad. For a 5 star spa hotel we expected much more. We ended up checking out early because it wasn’t for us. Far away from anything so be mindful there’s not much to do at the hotel. The spa treatments also were expensive for what they were. A shame really!

Bed was not as firm

The view, infinity pool, staff were lovely. WiFi connection is limited, as is food menu in main restaurant ( children were picky waters).

We are paying almost EUR 200 per nights but I’m afraid the hotel doesn’t deserve that. It feels like a dated 4* hotel, rooms are basic, breakfast is stale and doesn’t have avo, salmon or a cook-to-order egg station. Most of the hotel looks and feels tired. Bathroom lock doesn’t work and phone in room also doesn’t work so had to call reception from my mobile. Staff are friendly, they gave us late check out which was nice. For a spa hotel, the massage was very average. I heard they are closing in October for renovations which makes sense, much needed.

Beautiful setting, lovely rooms. Staff are a bit clueless and indifferent- need way more training on customer service. We had dinner and breakfast and both were good.
