We have stayed here on a number of visits as we use Johannesburg as a travel hub. We arrive, and the room is ready. No fancy formalities, just a lovely greeting from Sue and the Staff. Had a rather early morning departure to the Airport - breakfast was available - thank you We will be back

Fantastic place Lovely staff Best hotel in South Africa

I wanted some peace from the bustle of Johannesburg for one night and found this guest lodge to be perfect and I felt very safe. A large room with a comfortable bed plus a big bathroom. The bathroom was modern and well appointed with a spacious bath and separate shower. The property was quiet, even though it was full of guests, and the breakfast generous.

Warm welcome Clean and peaceful. Freshly prepared breakfast and the muffins are a must Pool to swim in available. Close to shopping and restaurants

We have stayed at Melrose in our previous transit’s through Johannesburg From the pick up at the airport to our departure we were well looked after. Lovely clean an spacious rooms. Invigorating swimming pool. Tasty breakfasts with plenty of coffee on tap

We stayed in a ground-floor flat/room. Own entrance Immaculate and in good condition. Fridge, kettle to make your own brew, comfortable bed and good wifi. Very comprehensive breakfast. Even in April, my wife ventured into the pool for a refreshing swim. Plenty of places to eat within safe walking distance. Lovely and quiet. Certainly return when we visit friends again

Very good venue and location. There are some service quirks as you would expect from a guesthouse. But the rest is exceptional value for money.

I stay here whenever I visit Joburg - its a lovely setting with a central swimming pool and rooms scattered around - the staff are very friendly as is the wonderful owner Sue. The food is excellent and the honour bar brings out the best in guests! - very well located from the business district but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city to make you feel you are in a country retreat

Great area, beautiful gardens, very quiet and peaceful

I did not have a car and I had to use an Uber to get to a restaurant so no in-house dining. I was offered a Mr Delivery menu but did not wish to eat in my room or in the breakfast area. The bedroom was very comfortable but my bathroom not great. Breakfast was superb except for the sharing of the farm style tables

Slhangri-la in the midst of Joburg elegant gardens gracious welcome in grand house hospitality galore. A splendid treat and we return to it again and Excellemt value for money.

This is a wonderful little hotel tucked away in a suburb of Johannesburg. At first glance it may seem to be in the middle of nowhere, but it is actually quite convenient. Try Moyo African restaurant nearby and the Italian restaurant a block away. Although they offer a shuttle service, the best and cheapest way to go is by using Uber. Download the app before you leave the U.S., and you will save almost half.

it was spectacular, all around.... not one negative things to say. the owner was so sweet, Peter the guard was so helpful and everyone was so helpful and calmed any anxiety I had. I was initially very concerned about picking places that would treat Black American right, I made an absolutely fantastic choice and we will be back!!!

This place was nice and surrounded by a beautiful garden. It is located in conscientious place. Sue and her entire staff are extremely nice and accommodating. And make it a point to personally talk to you. Sue even called in the day we left to apologize for not being there in person to wish us safe travels back home.
