We stayed for two night cause were visiting Udawalawe national park, which is about 30mis away so the hotel is a very good basepoint. Hotel is a walking distance from bus station and town central. Arrived and got complimentary drinks, super nice welcome and info of jeep/driver arrangements for the safari. The safari is a couple of dollars more expensive if you get it through the hotel but so easy, I highly recommend doing it that way. You get breakfast to go and the jeep and driver were excellent, so worth it (if you go for the morning safari, bring a longsleeved shirt for the drive)! The hotel was clean and looked more expensive than it actually was. Comfy bed with mosq.nets, good size bathroom....but the best part was the reseptionist Tilly. I have never met anyone more genuinly helpfull and friendly person without being intrusive. We werent sure where to go next and Tilly send us email after email of useful info and explained all about the near-by cities. He also encouraged us to contact him if we had any issues while the rest of our stay in Sri Lanka.

Stayed as a couple for 2 nights to go on safari to Udawalawe. The manager Tilly organised the safari for us at an extremely reasonable price and the friendly driver we had was an expert guide and wildlife-spotter. The room was pleasant and comfortable and the garden is a nice addition to relax in. But the main star of the show is Tilly the manager who is so friendly and welcoming. He made us fresh juice and tea and always made sure we had enough bottled water, all free of charge, as well as giving great advice about buses/trains for the rest of our trip. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend pavana resort!

On arrival we were greeted by the most friendliest helpful man I have ever met. Tilly really made our stay so pleasant. He helped book our safari and our car to travel to our next destination. He even walked us to the restaurant down the road. This man needs a pay rise! The room is small but adequate and clean. The garden with refreshing swimming pool is also very nice, we even had a family of monkeys on the garden walls.

We booked a luxury room - those are family rooms, the only "extra" is a third bed. The rooms are located at the ground floor and seem not to be ventilated. Bad smell and mold everywhere. Too expensive! The pool had broken tiles, so one wasn't able to swim in there. No place to stay exept of the pool area. We had dinner at the pool (very expensive, but ok) and there have been groups of locals getting into excessive drinking. They puked while we had dinner. Very disgusting. The staff wasn't able to dismiss them as they started chatting and distrubing our dinner standing next to us, although we obviously did not wan't to get into contact with them (I really like to get into contact with locals, but they have been very importunate.

We stayed here just one night, using it as a base for a trip to Udawalawe on our way from Galle to Ella. It's close to the bus station, making for easy logistics in and out. The hotel itself is fine, what you'd expect in the forgettable town of Embilipitiya. As others have mentioned, the real reason to start here is the service. Tilly is extremely nice, attentive, and helpful. He quickly fixed a snag with our booking (the description said the standard rooms have A/C, which they don't) and arranged a safari for us. The truck was comfortable with 6 captain's chairs, much nicer than most of the others we saw. It was a great experience to see the park and all of the wildlife, but not sure if 5 full hours were necessary. The Elephant Transit House was a nice bonus, definitely worth it. Overall, a convenient place for a quick stop over visit to Udawalawe.
