What an amazing hotel, staff greeted us outside the hotel and knew who we were even though we didn't tell them what time we were arriving. They checked us into our traditional Japanese apartment complete with an outdoor onsen, but not before my girlfriend got to choose her Yakuta to wear. The apartment was amazing, tatami mats, paper screen windows, floor tables and chairs. The onsen was fantastic, and the outdoor shower was a great experience. We also experienced their traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast in a private room which was amazing. Staff were all friendly and helpful at every turn. Can't recommend this place enough, an amazing experience in the hidden gem that is Gero.

I saw a hair in the form cleanser bottle at onsen.

Responsive staff. Amenities are adequate except the onsen inside the room is really small and it can only fit one person comfortably. As a result, my friend and I did not get to use it. My room is relatively quite even though is facing the road. The half board option with dinner and breakfast was not spectacular but met my expectations. I did wish there was explanation of food and instruction in English on the steps and how to consume those delicious Japanese cuisine.

We had a great experience with the hotel from the moment we stepped out of the train station and the moment we stepped into the hotel. The person who picked us up / dropped us off at the train station was super friendly and smart. The reception staff who helped us - Ben-san - was from Hong Kong and spoke our language. He was very patient to explain the room facilities, gave us really useful advice on our train schedules, local sightseeing and shopping, tips on the yukata culture, etc etc and remained accessible to assist with all sorts of questions during our stay. We had a small problem with our in-room onsen and they showed great concern and attentiveness to have it fixed in no time for us. I was less impressed with the shared onsen facilities for women - I supposed that was because the original building facilities were kind of dated. F&B quality was excellent, though I have to say the F&B service was a tad less attentive that what I've been used to in my years of travelling in Japan. Nonetheless, I'd still rate my overall experience there very highly and would recommend the hotel to other travellers.

My husband and I stayed one night in a Japanese-Western Suite Room with Panoramic Onsen Bath last week. Prior to our arrival, we received train schedules and driving directions via email from the hotel. It also offered pickup service at the Gero JR station. We didn't take it at first thinking we would do a bit of sightseeing before heading to the hotel. Unfortunately it was pouring when we got off the train so we ended up going to the Tourist Information Center and the lady there rang the hotel for us. The hotel shuttle came in no time at all, and the driver was very nice and took care of our luggage. Although we arrived before 3pm, the hotel manager Mr. Ben san allowed us to check in early without extra charge, then led us to our room and showed us around. He is multilingual, very funny, and courteous. I do not eat beef myself and the hotel was very accommodating to my dietary needs. My meals were substituted with pork, and fish sushi, while my husband enjoyed the premium Hida beef. Both the dinner and the breakfast were delicious and plentiful. They were served in a private room. The next morning we headed to Takayama. We took the hotel shuttle to Gero station and the hotel staff provided us a Takayama map before we left. Overall, we were very pleased with Yukyunohana. It has a team of customer oriented staff. Definitely a 5 out of 5.
